Prayers for Jeff and his family during this most difficult time.

My sister has had 3 or 4 strokes. Thankfully after a week or so in ICU and then time in Rehab she's always come through the strokes with no long-term effects. Let's hope the same for Jeff.

I talked to Jeff's wife last night and they are releasing Jeff today. They will need to find somewhere to treat him in Denver. Jeff is on short term disability and Linda took all next week off so he will be under great care.

Jeff has not regained his normal vision yet and they put a patch over his right eye to help and he is able to walk now with going in circles. It is not known how much brain damage occurred but he has his memory back which is a good sign. His Uly will sit in MT (it is already paid for) until we can determine if he can ride again. Knowing Jeff I think that might be sooner than later and I have always suspected a little brain damage anyway so I am hoping he will be back to normal (normal being relative) soon.

Who needs normal, anyway?

>>>Who needs normal, anyway?

Interesting question coming from FMJH . . who has, for the 14th year running, been denied the "Badweb Normal Benchmark" crown.

We're cheering for Jeff and a speedy recovery. If it becomes important the he "look" normal . . . hold a photo of FMJH up next to him and he'll look stellar!

: )

Normal . . . normal . . . who was the last normal person we had here?

that's good news so far, when my wife (now ex) had a stroke at 32 years old, she spent 3 days in ICU and 10 more days in the hospital, before she was released. then she could barely walk without major assistance, major memory loss. which was sad since she is a school teacher, spanish and english! took some rehab, but within 4 months she was back in front of the class! she still has some residual effects, some muscle spasticity, had a toe removed, and has periodic memory recall troubles, but she has recovered remarkably.

hope he heals well, best wishes from me, for sure.

Frank:

Is there an address we can write this Ruggles guy at?

I'm seen some way out excuses for not picking up a bike but . . . .well, this tops them.

anyway . . if you get a chance, drop me a note so I can send him a card.

Court, I will send it tonight. I am going to bring him a copy of the "book" so he can get educated on Buell.

I know he is pissed that his new Uly is still sitting in MT but as soon as we know he is ok to ride, and he gives me the word, I am heading up to get it.

Court, I sent you an email last night.

Jeff is at home and will be going to a Doctor in Denver area. He sounded good when I talked to him and is shopping for a puffy shirt to match his new eye patch in order to complete the Pirate theme.

We chatted about the Uly and the shop has it in storage until he feels safe riding again.

I am hoping he will post soon...

That is great news Frank. You may need to drive up there soon and harass...I mean rehabilitate him. Let him ride on the back of your Uly until he just can't stand it any more.

Well, he is getting through the easy part... the stroke. But he still has to deal with the scary stuff... riding a KLR! Godspeed, man!

Just kidding! : ) I'm praying for you!

Frank,

You truly do sound like a good friend. Put me down for praying for Ruggles. I'm glad to read the encouraging news of his progress. May he ride with you again, soon.

I'm late to the party, but I add my prayers. Strokes scare me to death. I have seen people come through them very well though with minimal or no long term effects. I hope Ruggles can do the same. Please let us know how things go. Give my best to him and his wife, even though they don't know me.
