Wife's R1150R went dead.

Remove:
13 screws
plastic pop rivet type things
Remove two radiator pods
Two fuel line disconnects
2 electrical connectors
fuel tank
air box cover
air intake tube
(I'm sure I forgot something else)

About 30-45 minutes later you can remove the battery.

Damn overly engineered German sewing machine.

I think we will be going bike shopping soon.

So the battery is under the fuel tank? That sucks.

The last one I worked on had the master cylinder under the tank with a cable running up to the handlebar lever. You would think BMW could use either hydrolic or cable but no, they used both.

Panhead Dan... BMW did that in the 70's. How long ago was this??

On my K1200LT, I lift the rider's saddle and... there's the battery!

They are not all that bad. My BMW X Challenge requires seat removal and 4 bolts for the side panel.

My buddy had the same thing on his 1150 but pinched a hose when he put the tank back on. Took him quite a while to figure that out. It was a hint from the Beemer board that pointed him in the right direction.

My HP2 enduro is hands down the easiest machine to work on I've ever touched. It tries to kill me but GD, I love it!

Ah, I was wondering how long it would take to get the battery on that thing. I remember thinking as I left the house, "Damn, he might have the take the tank off!"

yeah, ya gotta be careful about "which" BMW you buy ! my '94 R1100rs's battery is under the gas tank but.... remove the seat, two phillips screws, 3 zudts type fasteners , a rubber strap & the battery is ready to come out .

I had an 05 gs 115o repo and its a nightmare to get the thing out I just ripped the seat off the bastartd screw it I needed the battery for the lawn mower
