Wah wah wah...C'mon; I thought Buells were all about being brash, tough, and independent! Who cares what someone thinks or cares about your bike. SO what you dare to be different. Embrace it.

B00stzx3,
My advise to you would be to ignore the idiots.
The people I choose to hang out with are the ones who like to ride.. no matter what you are riding, they want to ride with you.
If they are going out of their way to try to make you feel inferior about your choice of ride... then they are not worth the effort of arguing with... or even socializing with.

Idiots will be idiots.. no matter what you throw back at them. And the longer you play the back and forth.. the closer to being an idiot you become.

Take the higher ground.. get on your bike and RIDE.

people are like coins, they have two sides and you can not change their value.

just ignore it, I tried to be the crusader once it isn't worth the hassle nor stress. Be like Hank Hill, give them the facts and let them make an informed decision...

Just remember arguing on the internet is like winning an eating contest, in the end your still a loser.

Your Spidey sense is strong on this one!!!

There were four DNFs (Did Not Finish) and three DNSs (Did Not Start).
That's about 10 percent of the field.
None of them were Buells.
What more needs to be said?

Pick the twisties road you can find and do follow the leader.... They will be playing catch up all day. And if you are me... my show em rides usually end up at a rural dirt road short cut. The rest of the rice rockets have to take the long way back to the diner ... I usually see them about a half and hour after I get my grub.
They are learning... more of them are starting to get tards.

This is why i love riding with sportbike guys.

when i ride under a over pass i make it a point to ride right next to by buddies. and in the middle of the under pass i pull in the clutch and give it a LOUD ASS D&D REV...you can see'em flinch when it scares the shit out of em. cause they are not used to the "bark" they like the "whine"

TRY IT YOU'LL LAUGH YOUR ASS OFF. then at the next light you can make fun of the way he flinched like a....ummmmm..."kittie"

get it?

its effing AWSOME.

Had much worse said when mentioned on a local board my ride of choice was a Buell.
Cobbled together this response working from something found someplace on this site.

*disclaimer* - using these quips may be like getting a baseball bat and swinging it at a bee hive.. you're just going to piss them off more..
suggestion: just know that they are wrong, and are trying to get a rise outta you for their twisted pleasure. f**k em

umm some quips....

dont you think the fuel in the frame is a good idea? its stronger than your piece of crap frames!! your frames will wadd up like a paper ball at the first drop

fuel in frame continued.. Uhh hello not only does this lower the center of gravity by moving the gas tank lower. Since there is no gas tank up top, this opens up space for the air box.

buell has the ZTL, you cant do any better than that with two calipers, weight savings!

you ever wonder why they call them cookie cuttters, and you think your bike is unique, HA!

all bike manufactures are trying to catch up with buell's innovations.. look at KTM's RC8, thats a buell innovation with the underslung exhaust!!! and look at the latest trend for jap bikes and their 'megaphone exhausts' (link) buell all the way dude

i'd say y'all need to reopen your eyes and get bitch slapped by a buell in the curves

One of the big things of ZTL is that with the reduced weight, the wheel sticks to the road better after hitting bumps or other imperfections. A good 2 caliper setup can out brake a ZTL, and is typically better off on the track, but you don't have to worry about pot holes and dead squirrels on the track.

Also about the frames, make a point to point out the recent recall for GSXR frames snapping like twigs.

Dude- grow some thicker skin and some bigger balls. ; )

By all means, learn to RIDE your bike, develop your skill set. All the metoo ricers have is more power- not the handling of a Buell, nor the sexiness of the pushrod motor's thump. The QUALITY of a Buell's power delivery is unique to the brand, whether it's the pushrod or the Helicon motor.

Last Badness, returning back to Mur-Vil, me, Etennuly, and Orangulius had just gotten on Hwy 360 in Tellico PLains. We stopped at the BP to decide who was going where once we reached town.

About 20 seconds after we had stopped, 5 or 6 ricers zoomed by, obviously putting in a hot run up this great road. I had ALL my camping gear piled on the back of my CityX- just a big lump of stuff. I couldn't stand it, so I told my buds I was gonna chase them down, just to say I did it with all my junk on back.

Passed all but the leader before we ran out of road in Vonore, he was on a late model ZX-10 and a good rider. We stopped at the gas station at the end of the run- none of the guys I passed said anything to me, which I expected.

+1, "It's the Indian, not the arrow".

I gave up defending my bike against squids, correcting people about my headlamp, explaining the bike, etc. I don't have a Buell to fit in and be a part of the group. I have a Buell because it's what I like and I don't feel the need to defend that. Find a group of riders that don't care what you ride. You can find them anywhere.

If all else fails, Google Buell's patents for the XB series alone.

I suggest you elevate your company.

Pass them in the corners with their girl on the back.

I just ignore them with a stupid smile on my face.

If that don't work, punch them in the throat.

I got the same questions and bashing about my Buell when I first bought it. It bothered me a little but I held it back.I didn't plan it but soon after I went on a ride with them. After the first stop they were all pretty much saying that they were impressed with how the Buell was handling but wait till we get to the straight aways. What I didn't tell them is I hadn't even been getting on it in the corners yet. I left and through the next few corners I carved to the most of my ability and stopped at the stop sign. I waited quite a while for the gxxrs to show up. Then as soon as the first pulled up it was a drag race till 120ish and then we had to slow for another curve, I never got passed and at the next stop I heard nothing but nice things about my Buell and have never heard a peep about it ever since. One of them is actually talking about buying an 1125r, go figure. The one guy said "I thought Buells were slow?" I told him that specs on paper don't really apply to the real world. People see what they want to see. In the real world all the little things that make Buell great are quite clear.

Sorry for the long rant but its kinda relevant

A good 2 caliper setup can out brake a ZTL

i want to test that out, kuz im thinking the buells steering angle has to do with that. can someone put a ZTL on their ricer and get a test so that the bike is out of the equation

You said DC, right?

Tell 'em I personally invited them to our BuellFest on May 16/17. Not only a chance for them to get on the demo fleet, but we'll have a battletrax-like course (because the name is trademarked) and a dyno shootout.

Tell 'em to put up or shut up. I'll see 'em in May : )

I just fired another nastygram to our web person to get it the hell on the site, but it's happening on those dates.

30 years ago, if you were a squid, you were in the navy, opposed to being a grunt on an airdale.

the first time i ever went through the dragon back in 02, i was just having fun by myself when i come across a couple of guys on rice burners in a turn and when i saw them waiving their arms i stopped to see what was up, just to find out they were trying to tell me to slow down because of the cops up ahead. and the second thing that came out of their mouth was that i was hitting those turns pretty good. shocked the crap outta me comming from a couple of guys in one piece suits on crotch rockets.

bottom line, show em in the corners or even let one of them try out your bike.

They are partly right though- Harley based Buells are no match for a well ridden Japanese 600 class sport bike, never mind bigger bore sport bikes. As for leaking oil, etc., while Buells continue to have reliability issues it takes some serious abuse to break a Japanese sports bike.

I didn't expect to get this much response. I guess I overreacted, but day after day its like anytime Buell is mentioned, they always gotta tear it down. They say to "grow thicker skin to" but you can't post a thing without those idiots coming in there and spouting bs. I will just have to show them. I've been looking at driving/track school, I know I haven't been riding along but I have survived some VERY fast grouprides and always kept up. Driving down a mountain in West Virginia with no guardrail

I will just not say anything on the board unless I see some serious messed up stuff about Buells. Screw em. Who commented, yes, Buellers are supposed to be tough. I forgot this, and won't forget it again. Buellers shouldn't give a rats bum what people say, and I'll keep that with me from now on.

Ratbuell- Do you work at HD Frederick? Thats where I go now since I moved home from Bmore. I'm in Pooltucky ; )

The parts guy is a heckofa nice guy up there, Poolesville guy to if I'm remembering right.

Ft, throw some chili on them burritos and you'll have a whole "ammo" supply!

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Just let them talk.

It's a lot of fun to humiliate through a few corners, then at the next stop remind them how leaky, underpowered, and outdated your bike is.

I ride an X1, so I enjoy reminding them how overweight it is too
