Anyone have a locking tool that they would be willing to loan Barker and me for a few days?

We are doing some work in the primary swapping out clutches and primary chains.

I can send for a UPS pick up an your place and return it to you.

Thanks.

If you're talking about the locking bar you fit between the engine sprocket and transmission several on here have used aluminum stock. Last week I used a wooden shim I had laying around the garage. I don't remember the exact length right off but it was approx. 4 1/2". Worked great and you don't have to worry about the wood doing any damage to the teeth.

I made mine also. I used aluminum and I've used it so it's been tested.
FT, you can make one easy. I just found a piece of aluminum angle (1-1/2) and cut one leg off so it was 1-1/2 flat stock. Cut to length and debur.
I can go measure mine if ya want.
It works perfectly.

I used a Home Depot sourced piece of aluminum flat bar. I doubled it up except for the very ends where it engages the gear teeth. It took about 10 minutes to cut the aluminum and zip screw the two pieces together.

I generally make my own special tools too, either from scrap lying around or by modifying (bastardizing some might say) other tools.

Works for me. (usually)

I called a local hardware store and had them cut a piece of aluminum stock to the exact length (sold my the linear foot if I remember). I used a sanding block to put a bevel on the ends. I think I had $5.00 and 20 minutes of my life into it by the time I was done.
