Has anyone heard where he will be racing next year? Anthony Gobert is the only name I have heard being associated with Austin Ducati for 2003. |

Keep checking www.amasuperbike.com and www.roadracingworld.com for updates. He is not testing with anybody at Daytona this weekend which is not good news. He deserves a ride. Maybe he'll ride the new Fischer MR1000? |

JQ, I check those very often - it seems they have completely forgotten about him. It is a shame for a guy not to get a factory ride after getting 4th in the superbike championship and having as much turmoil between Harley, HMC then Austin as he did in 2001. He's a super nice guy to boot. |

Maybe Buell's busy building that 4 stroke water-cooled square 4 world beater, and is using him as a development rider? Then they'll make a full effort assualt on AMA, WSBK, and GP, with Ciccotto, Barney, Higbee, and Pascal. Then I woke up. |

Not many race fans here. I'll just go back to lurking - doesn't look good to post to myself. Thanks for the input JQ. |

Jscott, I'll yak racing a bit.... Tough times for Canadian racers in the US eh. Jordan Szoke was denied access to US on some suspicious technicality. Had'a stay in Canada and scratch his AMA Superbike ride. Took the Canadian Superbike #1 plate for Suzuki, though.... Don't know 'bout Picotte's situation.... |

That's an interesting subject. Buell riders tend to be more interested in racing compared to Harley Riders, but not as much as "sport" bike riders. I have noticed it at the various BRAG events, For example at Pocono everybody was there for the start of the Buell Lightning race (cause of the free food), but a lot of people left and missed the end and the trophy presentation. I know it was on a SUnday and a lot of people had to go home, but I found it odd anyways. |

Lornce, I believe Szoke's back on the Corona team for 2003. He had a good showing before the visa troubles. I also enjoyed seeing him place higher than the factory HD team the year before with the Austin VR1000. This is the last I've read about Picotte - I'm getting worried I'll have to pick another favorite rider for next year. I'd still like to se him on one of those Buell h20 square fours. http://www.cmgonline.com/racing/CTRS/2002/diaries/part9/ |

Bike racing is getting a silly as Formula 1 car racing . . . .. less politics would be a blessing (as in most things, I think), but I'm not holding my breathe . . . .. . . been years since F1 cars have held any interest for me, outside of the outside the envelop engineering that goes on . . . |

JQ, It's getting pretty late in the game for Aprilia to join up for this upcomming year - although I've heard of possibly 2 other Ducati teams for the series in 2003 (not including HMC). |

Well over here bike racing is awesome! Funny thing is, none of you's 'merican's have mentioned Scott Russell's alleged comeback? Here's a good one for ya. Honda is so pissed off losing at the 'Island', to GSXR1000's and R1's, they're giving Colin Edwards SP to Ian Lougher, a seasoned TT winner from Wales, for next years TT, and Mr 'Honda' (some Jap dude) is coming to watch too. Bomber, check out the 600 production races for real scratchin action. Last year's Daytona was a slugfest nail biter. Tres bon race entertainment that's sorta' typical of the series... Having said that, watching Super Motard racing at a Toronto bike show this past weekend and I thought: It's more exciting than road racing AND flat track. New bikes that caught my fancy were a yellow xb9s and a Husaberg Motard replica.... |

Rocket, yeah I read about Scott, but the problem is: They are not sure if he will go AMA or WSBK, and if he does come back, he owes his insurance company a LOT of money..... |

Rocketman, Sadly, the Island and Honda's Island domination will never be the same without Joey Dunlop. No disrespect meant Ian Lougher: I'm sure he feels the same.... One of my all time true grit roadracing heros. Lornce |

JQ, It's funny you should bring up Aprilia - As good as they started out in WSBK, the last couple of seasons have not been to fruitful. Also I read somewhere that Ducati and Foggy/Petronas were going to be the only two true factory teams for 2003. Where does this leave Aprilia? The Austin Ducati team will use 998's not 999's - so maybe they could come to AMA with last years bikes and have a good showing. (Hopefully with Picotte as a rider) |

Where does this leave Aprilia? In MotoGP with Colin Edwards and Noriuki Haga, hardly a step down. |

JQ, I realize MotoGP will be their priority (not a good trend for WSBK's future), but they have expressed an interest in joining the AMA for the past couple of years (but then again so did Benelli). |

jose you are right about the money he owes. I was talkin with tripp about a week or so ago and the number that scott told him was really friggin big. I can't say because everything trip tells me he then says don't post that on the net. Damn that boy don't trust me. nah he does because he knows I can't talk well anyway. as far as pascal I've been wondering also and tripp ain't heard a word and tripp hears everything before we do because he's got a cell phone attached to his ear. Kinda pisses me off because the politics has gotten outta hand. He is a great racer but like tony stewart his tude gets him in trouble. Hell last time I heard kenny roberts wasn't the easiest to get along with either. Or any other great racer you name them...aj foyt, dale earnhardt, scott russel, the allison brothers, hell the list goes on. A politcally correct world is a world filled with half truths....which is a good politically correct word for a lie seesya bubba |

Bubba, Where is Tilley's going to race next year? 750ss in AMA or will they make the move to Formula USA. On that same note where will Hals race - I know Kosco will stay in Formula USA. This may have been answered in "the Future of Buell racing" thread, but those seem to get off topic pretty quickly. |

But that is 3 years off so stop with the refeneces OK Gawd that place is awesome. racing, riding, partying, nothing else begins to compare to the TT. Dave |

Roadracing in the U.S. is going to be fantastic this year. Just look at the talent that's going to be on the grids.Miguel, the Bostrom brothers, the Hayden brothers(Tommy & Roger Lee), the Goberts, Chandler, Yates, Mladin, Hacking, Roberts, and a whole bunch of talented people who just need the right break. It should make for some good TV. But the best race won't be on pavement; it'll be on dirt in Springfield,Illinois. |

Follow the Daytona Tire Test laptimes Go-Show's looking fast on Picotte's bike. GSXR1000 appears to fast as well. http://www.amaproracing.com/liveres/rr Hmmm - No Buell teams appear to be present. I believe Tilley's participated last year. |

I sent an email to RoadRacingWorld (great mag by the way) Is there any update on Pascal Picotte? Who will he be racing with next year? the reply "We have no information on that. If we hear anything, we'll post it. So far, he apparently has no ride." John Ulrich Roadracing World Not looking good friends |

Damn. I've been following Pascal since he started on the VR1000 program. You'd think 4rth last year would give him a secure spot, at least with the Ducati team... |

Unfortunately it appears to be a "What have you done for me lately?" type business. Picotte has given underdog teams consistency, which is pretty important in this sport. The likes of Roberts and Hacking can't get around the block without dumping their bikes (no insult or critisism intended - both are very capable and exciting riders), yet Picotte who can give a good showing on an underpowered bike (VR1000) and unfamiliar tires to the AMA (Michelin - 2002), is left out. It's a shame. Especially when the AMA will be the premier SuperBike series for 2003 - given the joke of a series that WSBK will be next year (can you say Ducati-Cup). The more I think about the VR1000 program, the more it pisses me off - record revenues every quarter - "We can't be competetive" - Bullshite |

The word I have heard is that Pascal is very difficult to get along with. In a venue where there are lots of talented riders starving to death, that's the kiss of death unless your talent is unbelievable. An example of this was John Koscinski, who was incredibly fast and a jerk. As soon as he slowed down a little...poof, there went his rides. |

I took the kids to see the Big Kahuna race at Road Atlanta last year. They got posters and crap from every top team except Pascal's Ducati team. When I asked them about stuff for the kids they were VERY snobby and had nothing. They lost 3 fans that day. F@#$ em and feed em rice. lib |

Funny, my in laws (parents and sister) went and got me an nice autographed poster from Pascal to me. They said he was a nice guy all around. Perhaps it was more of the sponsor's issue at that time? (not to say that he is or isn't a jerk, but my family's experience has been good with him, anyway) |

Cool. All I'm saying is our first hand experience is in line with what Imonabuss heard. I thought it sucked because I had kids involved. Personally, I could care less. My kid's got Nicky Hayden & Co. plastered all over the walls of his bedroom. |

It really does sound like a Team Austin issue. btw, my inlaws also got Nicky's sig as well, said he was great. I am sorry about your experiences though. I mean, half the fun of going to the races is getting the goods....hopefully, Austin will be out with Gobert's posters and sigs this year... |
