The tanker boots are outstanding--great design, well made, comfortable (AFTER you break them in). I don't know about the Matterhorn-branded ones, but their HH-branded tankers are made here in the states. |

I have been wearing custom made Wesco's for 25 years. I honestly can't buy regular 'sized' boots anymore. They are by far the most comfortable boot I've ever worn. I wear Highliner lace to toe for work and the Harness when not at work. I have a winter and summer pair of each. That's about $2,000.00 (well) worth of boot. The few people I have convinced to try them now blame me for ruining them. As in, they can't wear any others after the Wesco's. Those Timberland of wich you speak aren't even slippers compared to real boots, they're flip-flops. Save your money and go west(co)young man. |

I have been thinking about a pair of those "Combat Touring" boots that SIDI makes for Aerostich. Anybody have any experience with them ? |

I just had to replace my first pair of red wing boots after 6 years of 5-6 days per week service. Red Wing boots are the most comfortable shoes of any kind I've ever worn. |

They were on my list of new boots a year ago, but ended up getting the SIDI ones I have now instead. |

I've had the combat touring boots for about 3yrs.. I like them but are a bit much for shorter rides. I think Court has also owned a pair or two. Might want to consider the touring lights. SteveH |

Oh- I thought we were talking everyday working boots. I have a pair of the combat touring boots too. I agree that the originals are a bit much for everyday riding. The lights were not available when I bought mine, but love them all the same. I bet they'll last a lifetime as well. |

The combat touring boots are made by Sidi and are very good quality. In fact the combat touring boots led me to buy the Vertebra's that my brother still races in and the Vertigo's that I currently ride in. No serious riding boots are really good for walking around any more than ski boots are made for hiking. The rigidity you need in a crash makes them a poor choice for the mall etc. (Unless you use an orthotic to keep your toe from dragging, then they can work just fine for the distances you walk). The very best choice is usually to carry a pair of walking shoes with you if you are going to be putting miles on the shoe leather IMHO If that is not an option compromise with a good sturdy pair of leather work boots. |

Try these fellas for reviews of the 'stitch boots: http://www.advrider.com/forums/ Also, might want to look into Bates Fast Lanes. Lack of modern protection though: http://www.batesleathers.com/boots |

My workaday boots are from Ariat- steel toed and comfy. They have brown leather uppers, but halfway down from the laces the leather is covered with a black, manmade, "bedliner" lookin material. Most of my work boots get gouged, cut, or scraped over time in this area- so far nothing with this pair. That "bedliner" stuff is TUFF!! The nice lady who sold them to me also mentioned they have a better made shank and sole- forgot all the technical terms. I wear them everyday I work, and my feet don't hurt. Check em out. |
