Clowns scared the hell out of me as a kid. As an adult, they are one of the few classes of human (sub-human, perhaps) that actually make me violent. I have nearly an uncontrollable rage when they get near and I have to verbally warn them that a) I hate clowns and b) I will shove that sill-a$$ed red nose right up their @#$%# followed close behind by those stupid, moronic, assinine shoes................excuse me while I wipe the foam from my lips and try to relax. |

Geez- i post a tiny photo of John Wayne Gacy in clown makeup, to make the same point, and it gets removed by moderators. ...but the photos of the fat chicks in bikinis and the girls with 3 tits are fine... gotta love selective custodians |

Not a big fan of clowns either. Ultimately, I don't like people invading my personal space. Just because you are wearing funny make-up and clothes, it doesn't mean I am ok with it. |

I have a friend, a retired NYS Police detective, who was suspended for laying out a clown who invaded his personal space back in the '70s. He was my hero for a good week, after that. I do NOT dig clowns, people in bad makeup invading my personal space (thanks, ft-bstrd) are the last thing i want....If I did, I'd enjoy lap-dances (I don't) (Message edited by tramp on July 08, 2008) |

Damn. A lap dancing clown. I had't thought of that. Actually, strip clubs are equally as creepy. I don't like people invading my personal space even if they are hot. (Message edited by ft_bstrd on July 08, 2008) |

Well tramp to be honest all this OT talk is in bad taste IMHO. A remembrance thread turned to mush, no one honors the dead better than a bunch of insensitive "posters". Regardless of liking clowns or not... troll away |

Clowns never scared me as a kid, but they became creepy when I got older. I'll never forget the day they went over the edge for me. I was at a Sizzler steakhouse for lunch and they had a clown giving balloons out to kids. The clown was also joking around with a few old people and harried parents when he/she (I remember not being able to tell the clowns gender under all the make up) started coming towards our table. For some reason, right then, I felt the most creeped out I've ever felt in my life. I think the he/she clown could sense it and veered away at last second to harass some other people that looked less terrified. Ever since that day, clowns have bothered me; I won't let one get near me... and I never went to a Sizzler steakhouse ever again. |

"Tramp your impossible." I'm sorry, bads1- I think the bozo guy was very cool, and I certainly liked him when I was a kid, I respect his work to this day, and his contribution to popular culture shouldn't be trivialized. Memorializing him in the thread is a nice idea, I'd hope he'd appreciate my 'rolling on the floor laughing' iconography. |

I don't mean to diss the guy, but this is right: Kids hate clowns, research shows From correspondents in London January 16, 2008 12:13pm Article from: Reuters BAD news for Coco and Blinko – British children don't like clowns and even older kids are scared of them. The news that will no doubt have clowns shedding tears was revealed in a poll of youngsters by researchers from the University of Sheffield who examined how to improve the decor of children's wards in hospitals. The study, reported in the Nursing Standard magazine, found all of the 250 patients aged between four and 16 they quizzed disliked the use of clowns, with even the older ones finding them scary. "As adults we make assumptions about what works for children," said Penny Curtis, a senior lecturer in research at the university. "We found that clowns are universally disliked by children. Some found them quite frightening and unknowable." |
