Hate to pat ourselves on the back, but we went out (way out) of our usual way to help out a fellow Bueller. We had a Bueller from Texas, that rode his bike up, have a major problem with the throttle body. That being it broke at the throttle cable pulley. So Saturday night, Ben (Shmitty), Mike (Coolice), Alex, Zack, Bob and myself, with the help of Greg Avello that pulled and sold him the part from his crashed race bike, stayed up late that night and got the bike torn down. The next day, Bob, Zack and Alex got the new throttle body installed, had to route the throttle cable through the air box due to the fact that the one on the bike was junk and the only available replacement was from an R (his was a S). Got the bike back together and got him on his way home. He gave what money he could for the work we did. Hope he makes it home ok. So after that good deed....I BLOW THE ENGINE ON MY RACE BIKE!! Karma my ass. Oh well.

It didn't look good when I opened the airbox and saw the stem on the butterfly snapped in 2. It's good to know that he was OK and was able to ride home. Oh and he wasn't the only one that needed assistance and able to ride with Rocketsprink's help. Thanks for the oil man!!!! I have to say that ALL of the racers where second to none when it came to helping out a fellow Bueller. Gentleman Jon was fixed up by fellow racers as well. Good luck and stay safe guys!! |

This was an excellent all around effort! We stripped the bike and pulled the throttle body in record time, but weren't sure what the fix was gonna be. The next morning we had the Buell demo truck offering parts, but they were for an '08 and wouldn't work on an '04. They were willing to do whatever to get this bike back on the road. And thanks to Bob's cable routing innovations and the use of his lap top, the bike was running like a charm by noon the next day! Just another reason why I'll always be a Buell guy! Hey Rocco, shoot me an e-mail when you find out what happened to your motor. Schmitty |
