Finally, after 23 months of being an E3 I am now an E4 in the Army. Got my waiver. A tad on the late side, but it didn't become available until this month. I'll take what I can get. Now, only concern left for me is the PT test (not worried on that) coming up and the weigh in which I am a tad worried about. I'm always going to be taped and that always bothers me. I've been busting my rear to get the inches off though, so I hope it pays off. It has in the past, but anyone in have any suggestions? |

Congrats... Dude, I was on Weight waivers my last two years in the Marine Corps.. What a pain the Ass it was sometimes... Next time you weigh in do some push ups before you go and don't wear your shirt on the scale.. (Message edited by teddagreek on April 04, 2008) |

Congratulations on you earning the rank of Non Commissioned Officer. I recommend you read you promotion warrant and focus on the words and what it charges you with on your new responsibilities. This is very important to take these things to heart every time you are promoted. The bar has been raised now in all ares of you life now. I also recommend you read as many books as possible on leadership. For the Army or any branch I recommend the "3 meter zone" (I think its called that.) Its about small unit leadership written by someone from the Army. I sat it in a USMC exchange and read the whole thing standing right there. It is a good book. I also recommend reading anything about leadership especially when it comes to leadership in history, more specifically if you can find something around WWII time. These books to any rank, is equivalent to the service manual and working on the Buell. They ARE worth there weight in gold. I truly think very quickly you will see that there is alot depending on you now and if you apply yourself continously and daily in those areas for your subordinates, the weight stuff will come around pretty naturally. Again Congrats!! |

Sgt, not an NCO yet, preparing to become one though. From what my squad leader/1st line told me they would be putting more expectations on me. I should be getting my promotion counseling here soon. Just gotta keep pushing forward. Hope to get my E5 within a year, we'll see what happens. |
