Where on an XB do you attach the charging unit's black clip to ground it?

Thanks in advance.

The best way to charge the battery is to unhook the terminals so the bike is not in the loop. Red + / Black - on the battery terminals, it is best not to ground through the chassis for charging.

Tenders have a harness that stay on the battery and hook in via a plug.

+1, go straight to the battery. You won't hurt the bike as long as you leave the ignition switch off.
