I have Arai RX-7 Corsair love it... The fit is great. Arai has different helmets for head shapes.. At low speed this thing fogs like crazy unless the visor is cracked or treated.. Anyways.... My old faithful anti fog "cat crap" works pretty good while it lasts until you clean your shield.. Then you have to reapply it.. I tried some scuba stuff.. Garbage... Has anyone tried any inserts like fog city or Pin lock... |

My Shoei fogs terribly in cold humid weather without the shield cracked or at speed. At least it did until I put the little breath shield in it that came with the helmet. No more fog. Does your Aria have such a device? |

Yep my shoei fogs horrible I bought the before mentioned inserts and they work even well below zero degrees, what an idiot I meant to say below freezing. The manufacture is pin lock I believe. You buy the exterior face shield and they have your choice of internal sheild colors from clear to smoke. Here is the link to the manufacture site http://www.pinlockusa.com/ They work great (Message edited by Lost_in_Ohio on March 28, 2008) |

Pinlock is the best system I've used. Available for arai and shoei - and others. |

Pinlock USA currently works together with helmet brands Shoei and HJC. Both Shoei USA and HJC America offer face shields that are prepared for the Pinlock system. These Pinlock prepared face shields have two pins preinstalled in the shield, which can hold the Pinlock fog resistant insert lens. The Pinlock system is not available for other helmet brands in North America. ??????? |

My Nolan modular came with a pinlock face shield and insert. It works extremely well. |

I used Fog City inserts for years, and I really liked them. They also stand behind their product. I had one insert where the adhesive pulled off the insert and stayed on the backing. I was at the IMS show at the Javitts Center a couple of weeks later, and met the owner. I told him how much I liked his product, but related the problem I'd had with the one insert. He immediately handed me a new insert, and told me that he believed in doing the right thing. The inserts work, they're reasonably priced and the company stands behind their product. |

They (fog city) are cheap enough to replace every winter anyway. |

I never had a problem with the residue. A little Isopropyl alcohol cleaned what was left behind. I have a pinlock on my X-1002 Nolan, and it works well, but I don't think it will work on an Arai shield. I used the Fog City on my old Arai Quantum E with good results in temps ranging from well below freezing to hot Summer days. |

Mate - they ain't as good as pinlocks. You can still see the glue strip and you can get oncoming light distortion when fitted - and they are much more fragile - and they are permanent - the pinlocks are easy on and off and more resilient. They are also more expensive - but I reckon worth it. but all that said if you can't get pinlocks they are a very good alternative. |

I also work for the arai distributor down here. They come with pinlock visors standard in this market. I can maybe source them if you can't find an online store. |

Respro Foggy ($20 at most places) is a breath deflector that velcros to the inside of the helmet. I have talked to others who have used it and they swear by it. You can take it out when the weather warms up and you don't have to mess with the face shield. Kind of fits your face like an oxygen mask (pics lifted from another site) The Foggy can be picked up at about any discount house. Don't know if they're stocked by any sponsors... but check it out. I use baby shampoo or the anti-fog solution from a scuba shop used for scuba mask. (I keep it in my tool box - cheap stuff and small enough bottle for a pocket) - wipe it on and polish it off kind of like a plastic polish. ONLY good for about an hour of riding - not quite every fuel stop. Better than nothing (as you found out) (Message edited by slaughter on March 29, 2008) |

By the way - aircraft without de-fogging (gliders for example) - use a second layer of clear plastic on the inside, separated by a layer of weatherstrip to give a dead air space between the two. I have been tempted to try it by trimming a second visor to fit the inside of the face shield and just see if it works. (Arai Corsair by the way, an EXCELLENT helmet!) |
