Ok, so me and the girlfriend decide earlier in the week to just cook a nice dinner at home and stay in. Besides, Lost was coming on at 9, and neither of us wanted to miss it. Anyhow, we settled on a menu of seafood fair. On Wednesday I tell her she should go to The fish market in St. Augustine since she had to play tennis there anyway. The markets there are much better than the inland fish markets we have here in Jax.
Let me just go ahead and get to it already. Basically she buys a couple lobsters and as the monger is boxing them up, he says they JUST got some Red Snapper in that morning. My girl checks it out and grabs a freaking HUGE fillet of that as well. Fast forward to last night. She is sectioning out the fish and hits something with her blade. Her first reaction is WTF? Then realizes what is it. She calls me over to look at the 'sinker' she found in the flesh of the fish. Remember, she just bought a fillet, so no guts. As I'm approaching, she is exclaiming how a sinker got in the flesh. Well, it wasn't a sinker at all. It was a bullet. A 9mm Hollow Point bullet! Craziest shit I have seen. No noticeable point of entry. Just a small area or dried blood surrounding the bullet. Weird. We sectioned out the whole area around it and discarded. I was a little hesitant about lead poisoning but ate it anyhow assuming the blood had not tainted the meat. No explanation of how it got there, or how the fish lived with a 9mm in its side. Maybe the fish market suppliers was having some trouble with the 'traditional' fishing equipment that day.

It was very good though. Blackened half and fried half. The lobsters came with no surprises.

It was a through and through. That bullet was used to off someone in a mob style hit on a yacht a few miles off the coast. The fish was just an unfortunate victim swimming too close to the surface.
Now explain this. Three or so weeks ago I was eating a frozen burrito, bought from Wallyworld in the ten pack. Ruiz foods is the company it came from. As I bit into it (bean and cheese) I had this horrible crunching sound and spit out a rock the size of a pellet. At first I thought it was a hollow point 9mm but it was just a rock. Called the satisfaction guaranteed hotline, because I wasn't satisfied and left a message and they called back a few days later. Wanted to send me a coupon for some more. Duhhh, I won't be eating any more and then they wanted the rock for their quality control and would send a SASE but have yet to see that also.
To make a short story long, BEWARE OF WAL-MARTS FROZEN BURRITOS!!

Right, cuz you never know when you might find a rock or 9mm in your shit. The rock probably came from an angry immigrant that tried to sabotage the machine that took his job. Sounds like an open and shut case to me.
I guess it beats finding a finger in your Wendy's chili.

Yeah but she had to put that there herself. It's because of stupid people like her that when someone actually does have a bullet or rock in their food that the company sends two men in black suits with a memory eraser. I'm afraid common sense is dead and gone in a majority of the population now, I mean hot coffee in your lap while driving then awarded millions in a settlement? The whole lot of them should be banished. If the coffee wasn't hot she would have probably moaned about that too. Oh well, the only recourse I know of is not to purchase their products anymore. It's just like getting crappy service at a restaurant. There are WAY too many places to eat at to go back to a sub-standard place of business but it seems many managers don't understand that. They'll understand when their butts hit the pavement after losing their jobs because no one enjoys the lack of service. O.K. I've ranted enough

In defense of Ruiz Foods, they are a quality outfit and take every precaution in preparing their products. My company has done a lot of the construction out there and they are pretty serious about testing and inspection. If you were to visit the plant you'd laugh at Nautique's comments; their burritos are still rolled by hand. Louis Ruiz lived the American dream. Sorry for my rant.

O.K. so it came today. The SASE and a little baggie to put the rock in, and a check for $2.98. I have no idea what the check is for, maybe it's to jumpstart the economy? It wouldn't pay for the pack of burritos, oh well, I'm 298 pennies richer.
Thanks for the input Strokizator, I have no doubts about their quality control. I'm just glad no teeth were broken or worse, my kids. They each had a bite to see if they liked them. So far Ruiz has been quite apologetic unlike some places that get defensive and claim you're out of your head and making false accusations. Anyway no harm no foul but I won't be buying anymore frozen burritos. Once bitten twice shy.

When cooking pinto beans they need to be sorted very carefully. Rocks and the like are picked up during harvesting. I have cooked a few rocks myself. I can't imagine having to "look" that many beans.

Man, I am southern to the bone...

Did he tell you it was the "Big Pu$$y" special edition Snapper?

And here I just had an uneventful dinner of take-out Chinese.
Why can't my life be more fun like you guys?

Ahhh, very nice. Totally missed that reference. Thanks for clearing that up.

Apparently fishing with bullets is becoming more common, especially when the fish aren't coming to the surface. The divers go down and pop there ass.

I could see how, without context, my original post could be confusing. : D

Confusing? No way!

There are WAY too many cross references to even begin to make fun of.

Monger, buying fish, big pu$$y, snapper...oh where to start?
