I just scored myself a new Asus EEE tiny laptop. I love it so far but it uses Linux. Has anyone has success with using ECMspy with WINE or some other windows emulator? BTW, here is the monster I am talking about: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8 2E16834220261 |

Won't work with WINE. Might work with Virtualbox and a windows guest, but I don't know if cpu power, flashdisk and RAM space would allow that. I guess, it will not. Best way: get Gambas and the palm source and do a port - I did a small test that it's at least possible in Gambas to talk to the ECM with linux and the EcmSpy cable. When I read about the eeePC it immediately came to my mind, that this device would be much better than either a regular laptop (too large) or a pda (limited display size). Unfortunately they aren't sold in Germany yet. My time does not permit to support another platform. So do it yourself or find someone who will. If you need support, ask. Regards, Gunter |

Dood, that thing is sweet!!! You guys have got to quit posting cool tech stuff like this, it's killing the ol' wallet. I don't see why you couldn't wipe linux and install Win XP. The system requirements are surprisingly low, except for the disk space required(1.5 GB). You could likely install Windows on a 2GB SD card, and boot from that, freeing up the internal memory You would need some sort of external CD-ROM to install Windows though. Just thinking through the keyboard. |

That's very, very cool. The icing on the cake would be ECMSpy on Linux. I just love that idea |

Did a little searching for you, Nate. Everything is on the internet, somewhere... http://forum.eeeuser.com/index.php |

Cool! the first response was by the man himself. This little thing is pretty fast actually. It has a 900MHz CPU. I wouldn't bother to try running windoze on it though. |

Due to screen resolution, it won't be very pleasant. 800x480 - just try this out with WinXP at your desktop pc. Regards, Gunter |

Just tested: EcmSpy won't be fully visible in a window less than 600 pixels high. Better look for someone who would port it to Linux. Regards, Gunter |
