Is the tail section bare aluminum or is there an kind of clear coating on it? I'd like to polish out some scratches on it.

It has a clear coat on it...

The best thing to get, is from an auto parts store, "aircraft stripper", or remover, forgot...

Put it on, and watch that crap bubble right up...

Use a plastic scrapper to remove the crap...

After you are done, try to clean as much of that stuff off before you sand it, using a rag, etc..

WEAR GLOVES, EYE PROTECTION, and some sort of Mask with a hepa filter...

and do it outside...
