I was screwing around with the rear tire while on the bike stand and didn't notice the rubber protector was off on the sprocket side and scratched/gouged the inner hub of the rear gear as the pics show. Is this rear now junk? Is it something to worry about? Its just worn off the paint and trimmed the metal a little. I was going to go to a larger rear gear in the spring, just wondering if it is now garbage and unsafe ....also is the X1 a 55tooth rear stock?

Cosmetically, you're pretty ruined. Unless it's got some real deep gouges in it though, you should be just fine safety and performance wise.

For the how many teeth question...get a marker and write in one of the teeth, then rotate and count. I think it's a 55, but not sure. There's a post on here somewhere about it though. I know my S1W has a 61 rear stock; my S2 is a 55 IIRC. I'd guess given the sporting nature of the X1, it'd be the 61. But I could be wrong...

No big deal. Here's a picture of my modified stock rear pulley...

61 would be the correct gear. Why do you want to change the size? Easier to do the front.

Your right it is a 61 on the back...In my experience the rear is always cheaper to buy and replace but guess its not so with Buell's...would it stand to reason that there is a 27 on the front if there is a 61 on the back?? If so will putting on the 26 make a big difference in torque? I'm not really worried about the top end as my X1 rarely gets past 3rd gear. Will my existing belt work? With my other Import bikes 1 tooth on the front equaled 3 on the rear so I think going to a 26 would be significant in gaining torque.
