Ok so I need someone to tech me something today.

HOT, MEDIUM, COLD

What is all of this? I was looking at a few sets of Plugs for my 99X1 and I had to choose between a hot or cold? THEN i saw a few medium plugs.

I searched around and saw that the hot plugs werent recommended by many people, so my question is can someone entertain me with some info. THANKS

the end of the plug tip needs to be able to remove heat. Or it becomes soo hot it will pre-ignite (pinging) the the air/fuel mixture.

The air-cooled hipo v-twin gets hot -- the rear cylinder gets ever hotter.

In very hot weather with my higher compression engine I need to run a very very COLD plug to prevent pinging or I could run off-road high octane race gas.

RA6HC for stock x1 in hot weather. RA8HC in cooler weather.

2 is colder than 4.

I am running the ra2hc which is the coldest in the series. I still get some off the redlight pinging if I sat at the light long enough to get hotter. Also up some big hills unless I keep the rpms up I'll get some pinging. But recall my engine is more a track setup than street.

I've now moved and have access to race gas which will be awesome--- zoom zoom and will have an oil cooler on this week.

what would be the best plugs to get for a 99x1 with the following:

1250cc kit
dyna 2000 ignition
Dyna DC6-5 "twin fire II' coil
d & d muffler
ceramic coated stock header
XL1200 heads (ported and polished)
techlusions fuelmani

I was looking at a complete plugs and wire kit from Nology, but do not know what exactly to get. Waiting for someone to get me a part number on everything so I can order them.

any other plug suggestions?

Running a 1250, thunderbolt heads, Crane ignition, HSR42, SS2R V&H, stock header, force winder breather assembly. Standard plugs are doing good.

David, champions in the stock heat range will be just fine.

Buy 4 of them. Then index them. This helps with ignition. Black marker on the plug to show the gap. Then its install and see if its indexed with the gap pointed at the intake valve. If not try another plug.

Race engines do this but they will use different size washers. It's just as cheap to buy a set of 4 plugs.

I like the Buell Pro-Series. I use the plugs and wires. No problems. The plugs you can get at the dealer and I found the wires at Iron Machine. I read somewhere that they were designed to run w/ the Buell race kit. If you have the kit or similar mods, they should work fine.
