Does anyone have any pics of their Borla mounted? I am have been searching for mounting options on the rear. Anyone have specs for a custom mount that I could have made? Thanks

I don't have pics available, but it's pretty simple.
On my S1 the rear mounts for my Borla are about 1 1/2" below the factory mounts. I simply made a pair of extensions out of 1/8" steel.
The brackets are about 2" long, and 3/4" wide, and the distance from center to center on the holes is 1 1/2".
Using 1/4 X 20 bolts, about 1 1/4" long with aircraft nuts should do the trick.
It's worked for me for about 10,000 miles now.

Rde48,

I agree with Bartimus. I have run numerous header/exhaust options on my 98' S3 and have found that you can make beefier hangers out of steel strips and automotive clamps

Bartimus - What does your rear mount on the pipe look like?

The one that came with min looks a lot like an electrical mast clamp, I'm sure that is what it is. So I don't know if that is the correct rear mount. I also have an extension to reach from the mast clamp to the stock Z bracket. I have called Borla and they said they would look for any mount kits and instructions that they have laying around. I'm not holding my breath though. I have it mounted now but with the placement of the front shoe the pipe is not mounting to the header properly causing a leak where the two join. I like this pipe but because of all the problems I am thinking that I should just go back to a V&H because I now it will work.

Does anyone have any more suggestions for me on this pipe? Thanks in advance.

Ryan

"I have it mounted now but with the placement of the front shoe the pipe is not mounting to the header properly..."

Not sure what you mean by 'front shoe', but if the muffler isn't mounted properly to the header, don't ride the bike. The exhaust is mounted to a rubber mounted shaking engine. If the system is compromised in some way, you'll start breaking header studs, welds will crack, and the front of the muffler could drop off the header, vaulting you off the bike at speed.

Every one of these incidents have happened to members of this website already.
