Is anybody elses motor really noisy? I am new to Buell and have no idea if this is normal. It sounds like noisy rockers. I have under 3000 miles on it and was told it had its 2500 service checkup. Please advise I don't want to grenade my motor.

Unfortunately, noises are really hard to diagnose via computer. The X-1 is a derivation of a 50yr old air-cooled design, so they are somewhat noisy. Lacking other resources, hang around an H-D dealer and listen to various Sportys in the parking lot?

If it sounds like rocks are being crunched up under the rocker covers, all is well.

All internal combustion motors are a derivative of some older designs but air-cooled will always have more mechanical clatter than liquid cooled designs.

Do you have the stock air box installed? If not, noises seem to be much louder or amplified with some aftermarket intakes.

Have someone who would know take a listen just to confirm you have no serious problems.

Whirring and clicking is normal, sharp 'knocks' are not.

I found out it is a normal noise I had a Tech listen to it, just a case of the noobie syndrome.
