Hey all,

I've got a 99 X1 that needs a new rear head ($240) and rear tire ($). I finally decided to pick up a cruiser and now need to get this bike out a the garage. Wife's naggin.

So, here's the question...

Should I...
A. buy a new head and try to sell it - how much to ask for with 16K miles, force intake and exhaust and race ecm. Bike is in decent condition.

B. (Probably gonna do this)..Sell as is, so how much should I ask for it??

C. Try to part it out... Take longer to recoup the $$ and more time etc, but how much could I get if it went this direction? Plus it'l help out those that need parts. I know i'm a nice guy..

So, any helpful suggestions are really appreciated.

Sell as a unit the choppa guys only want running mills.
quicker to repair than to part out if the head is bad. specificaly what is wrong.

A. spend 300.00 to 500.00 for head and tire, take about 4 hrs or so to do it yourself, sell the bike for 4000.00 or so.

B. spend 0 and sell as is for 2500.00 or so.

C. part out, spend 8 hrs tearing it down, sell motor for 1000.00, wheels for 300.00, forks for 300.00, swingarm 100.00, frame for 100.00, body for 250.00, rest small parts for a few hundred. just off the cuff.

if it was me, i would try to sell as is for awhile, and if it doesn't sell within a month, part it out. my .02!

I had asked for a price for the whole bike. BUT, if it were mine I would rebuild motor and ride it. I'm looking for just such a bike to build the hottest motor I can put in one of these things. Yes, I do like speed, but want some of that torque we all love. (lots of it) Want to rip the lungs out of the local rice bikes! I do it already to an extent but really want to prove the point that we got the power where it counts! Having a bike capable of 170 is stupid in my opinion on the street. Where you gonna do that without being put in jail? With the Buell I have now I'm capable to 140 or so. Thats all I need, but love to have my arms yanked out by the torque. Good luck no matter which way you go. If you want I'll keep my ears and eyes open for a head.
