Everyone ends up eating their words. When the '06 belt came out I remarked 'I'm actually looking forward to the next time I need to replace the belt on my S2.'. Well it appears that the process of masticating my words has begun with me snapping the belt on my S2 this afternoon.

So what's the verdict? Who's got an '06 belt on their tuber and for how long?

My X1 has worn its XB12x belt for about 15K now I think.
They seem to work and most importantly, they're cheaper : )

ME! Of course you should know, you help me put it on the M2. I have 12,000 miles on the '06 belt on the M2 and its doing fine. Of course I had 32,000 miles on the original M2 belt so I do not know which is better yet. The problem is the M2 isn't being ridden much these days. The Uly seems to be the tool of choice most days. This summer that will probably change since the M2 is better on stupidly hot days than the Uly. I also will do Jacksonville rides on the M2 once I get all the tidbits fixed on it.

Naw, it's not the original belt. The original belt let go very soon after I bought the bike back in '95. If my memory serves me correctly the latest is probably the 4th or 5th belt on the bike in the just over 108,000 miles on it.

1313,, hey ,, how tight are you running your rear drive belt?? if your setting it to manual spec.s you may want to consider this..after putting on your new belt.. with the bike supported.. unbolt your rear shock and move the swing arm threw its motion.. on my s2 it made the belt tight as a guitar string..
the way i set mine is to find the tightest point in the stroke and add 3/4 to 1 inch of free play in the belt mid way between sprockets. with it set up normal way if you pick up a stone it shoves its self right threw the belt. no place to go. with the belt looser it can travel around the pulley and drop out. sort of keeps you from over stressing the belt.
i read an article on victory and their drive belts.. reporters and test riders were a bit suspicious when they first released the bikes so they took a bunch of bikes and test riders out. loosened the belts all the way and punished them as much as possible.. to no e-vail.. no lost belts.. no skipping teeth.. nothing.. after reading that and looking at a belt on my friends fl,, well replacing it. loosened mine up.. have loved the results ever since..
but thats just a personal thing to throw out their for you... just a thought to consider

Another reason for running it loose (and I concur) is your 5th gear drive assembly.

I think the belt is actually tougher then the bearings.

Clear something up for me lads.... I have a 03 XB and have to change out sprockets to run the new belts, how come the older tuber don't have to change sprockets? Or am I missing something?

I am useing that belt since spring last year. I do adjust it loose as hell When I get on it 270 pounds. It snug enough, but as said before the buell spec is too tight. The stock belt must be run looser : ) and this new belt should be run loose too. works great and its made better.

03 was the odd ball...different pitch on those belts/pullies...

Tubers, and the 04 and newer, use the same pitch belt...

Anyone know if the front pulley on the tubers are the same size and tooth count as the 03's.

So far I have rounded up a 04 rear pulley, belt tensioner and belt. All I need is the front sprocket.

The front sprockets are the same part number, JUST dont use the 03, the pitch is different, thus it wont work with a regular belt...

You can use the 04 up front sprocket...

The tubers also have it easy in that the rear axle can be adjusted.
So as long as the little teeth line up and the belt is the correct width, an older buell can adapt to an extent in terms of length.
