I drilled out the slide, changed to a 45 slow jet and a N65C needle and set the screw to 2.5 turns out. Now the idle is fine, both at closed and open choke, but when I throttle it stalls and gas pours out of the air cleaner. I had the air cleaner off once when I throttled and gas flew out of the carb. Lots of black smoke. What the heck did I do wrong? FYI, 10R12 plugs, sea level, D&D exhaust and Forcewinder.

Black smoke = rich fuel mixture. Your pouring in too much gas.

White smoke = oil burning

Float hung up, out of adjustment now?
Glad the needle nose vise grips helped.

If it only pours when the revving, that would lead me to think it is a problem with the needle or main jet, since the slide only pulls up when the throttle is opened.

A thought....the main jet fell out of the emulsion tube? This would have the needle uncovering a big hole.
