I took my rear wheel off today to check the bearings. All three bearings are 6205's and the rotor side is NOT a 62205. The rotor side bearing is held in place with a big clip ring held in a groove cut in the wheel. None of the bearings are spun but the rotor side is pretty lumpy and tight feeling. I will replace all three but whadda ya think? Has it been reworked? The date code on the wheel looks like it's from 99', is this normal? Any way to get the bearing out without buying a slap hammer from HD or paying for a tech? I was at the dealer today and asked if they could pull the bearings and about the clip but they just treat me like I'm the village idiot. I really, really hate my local Harley Dealer....Thanks Den 99X1

Is it a castalloy wheel or a PM?

Looks just like this picture of a PM wheel to me.

The PM rear wheels have 3 of the same bearing type.
The castalloy and Marchesini have 2 of one type on the drive side and 1 of another type on the brake side.

I used a $30 slide hammer with the lip hook to pull mine. Just keep moving it around the bearing as is comes out.
You can use a socket that fits the outer ring to drive them back in if you don't have a bearing driver.

Hi Mike, I took my wheel to my friends bike shop. He is making a hook to fit the bearing, he's afraid to damage the wheel. He has a press to put in the new bearings and we think that the old bearing outer race will work to press in the new bearing. I hope to get it back today or tomorrow, I have not ridden in over a week and it hurts... Back to riding my Gold Wing but it's not the same. Should I use a bearing lock compound? Den

I have an extra, brand new, E6205 bearing if anyone needs it.

I got three NSK6205DU's on Ebay for $5.00 each. They came in the mail and are the correct sealed type and look really nice, smooth action etc. They came in 2 days via USPS. Appreciate the offer...Den
PS the bearings in my wheel were from China! One is tight and lumpy, one loose and the third from the inner sprocket side seems good.
