So far I have run a couple heat cycles. 1 for about 3 minutes and another for about 4. Runs good throttle great.

Hopefully a few more heat cycles with stop all the LIFTER NOISE. Its not crazy loud but more than it used to be. It sounds like they havent pumped up yet. I took Dans advice and didnt replace or remove them.

Installed Rocker Lockers - Appeared that I didnt need them. Didnt take them apart either.
Updated Oil Pump - Filled Oil filter with an electric pump
New oil inlet rubber ball. - seems to be alright.

Im going to remove the check ball and try a couple more heat cycles before I put an electric pump on it and find out.

I've had a couple lifters take MILES to pump up properly.
BUT, that isn't usually the case.

Which year case?

What specifically was done?
Where is the noise? Cam chest? Tubes? Rockers?

And while I do have rocker lockers on both of my Twin Cams(built motors with Woods cams, trying to reduce some noise), I have NEVER installed in a sporty...

its only around 45 degrees here / on new oil and a long wix prefilled filter. I will get to heat cycle number 3 tomorrow. we might crack 60 degrees. its all classic even lifter noise after cam removal or new topend.

lockers were overkill in my case but you should see the sad racket they stop on youtube sportsters.

Gotcha on the noise. Thing to remember, XLs don't build SQUAT for oil pressure, so, it can take a long time. Especially at 45f, if you're running straight 50w.

Did you just go bigger/bump compression?

It's a PITA, but, if after this heat cycle(longer), it's still bad, I'd pull the top cover, and get it running, and make sure you're getting oil up top.
If you're getting oil out if all 4 rockers...

And as far as noise... wait until you put a cam-set in with almost no ramp...

Third times a charm and she lives! The moco will be lucky to see anymore of my money.

got a deal on some valvaline race oil. 20/50. I cant tell that the rocker lockers did anything but like i said I called the motor quiet for an X1 before and now too.

I was going to get Hammer 1275 but just put in stock new cyl and pistons.

I tried selling this bike last year but nobody wanted it. So I decided to restore the top end and bling it some. I just cleaned the heads and lapped the valve seats. Smoothed out some minor pits on the intakes. All valve seats seemed to be sealing great before the clean up. Everything else right and tite.

Im going to polish the tail / swingarm / PM wheels are getting restored to better than new polish. polish or paint the body work. Dont know yet. Its a lot of work for a backup high.
