Just discovered the 90 degree inlet fitting is missing. Just a brass stub left, glad I discovered that before it became a problem. Can someone tell me what position the new fitting should be, straight up and down or angled back? Thanks |

On my bike it points up and slightly towards the bike center. (Message edited by gowindward on April 19, 2016) |

Thank you both. I never noticed it was broken when I took it apart. When I went to install it today, I couldn't find a barbed fitting, only a little knurled stub. Figured that doesn't look right. And it wasn't, so the parts book revealed. |

that stock fitting is junk and prone to fail or break, its a sure source of a leak! pull the brass knurled fitting out and replace it with a brass elbow instead of the two piece stud and plastic fitting... available at any HD shop, as its a common "upgrade" here is correct "stock" plastic fitting and orientation...
upgraded to brass fitting

don't try and pull it with pliers you will crack the carb housing around the pressed in fitting and it will leak no matter what you do!!! ask me how I know this...learned that one the hard way...now I have a parts carb sitting in a box that I have needed to take parts from every once in a while over the years.... use a tap and thread the inside of the fitting, then make a puller from a metal sleeve or spacer or even a socket, use a washer a nut and a bolt... fit the sleeve or spacer over the housing that the little knurled stud is pressed into, then set the washer on top of that, thread the nut onto the bolt, slip that through the washer and spacer/sleeve, thread the bolt into the newly threaded stud, then use the nut as a jam nut spinning it down towards the bottom of the bolt against the washer and it will pull the assembly up and out......simple little puller and the stud comes right out! |

Does the fuel line route behind ,or in front of the mounting bracket? I have it behind now, seems a rather tight fit, so I'm wondering??? (Message edited by johnod on May 10, 2016) |
