Looking to get fuel injected S3 tank for a carbed M2. What is different exactly? And will it work? Should I even try it?

There is no petcock on injected bikes.
The pump and other crap will have to be removed. Your float wouldn't like 40PSI blasting through it I'll wager : )

Ha, I'm sure not. Is there any conversion setup to add petcock is my question. Or anything anyone has done to do this safely?

There have been a few here that have installed a carb on a X1. I can't remember what they did to put a petcock on there.

yes an S 3 will fit you eould need to make your own petcock set up or have an inline shutoff but you would most likly loose the reserve function.
An S 2 tank will work also like this

How is the petcock attached? Hard to tell in the pic.

You could use some type of This fuel tap (but with reserve option)
http://www.feked.com/1-4-x-1-4-b.a.p.-type-fuel-ta p-main.html
with some seal washers and a lock nut from the inside to.
And maybe can use one of the two FI holes to.

It's a bit expensive but have a look at the pingel fuel taps,

Looks like they drilled a new hole for the screen an inlet for the factory petcock then bolted it on. Not 100 percent I have not taken it apart I know the reserve works ok to get fuel I hit 160 miles before the reserve.

I think I still have a carbed M2 tank if you don't want to mess with the differences. $60 plus shipping. I'll check if I still have it, if you're interested.
