Ok i just bought a barnett clutch pack from a guy here on badweb, i also just ordered the barnett braided steel clutch cable and high performance clutch spring to go with it. I was wondering how the clutch pull will be with the new clutch and heavier spring, and how much different will the feel be from the new clutch. thanks guys.

Well I guess you can answer that for the rest of us who might consider the investment to be worthwhile. At least getting rid of the grenade plate should bring some piece of mind

Just loosing the grenade plate will get your attention even with the stock clutch and spring.Doing a slow lazy start is a little more challenging.

well i posted this before i put the clutch in,, and i love it it is a little hard to do a nice slow start but its great.Thanks again eric.

Neil, you may want to elaborate for the benefit of others here that could be considering the mod to their bikes. I'm happy with the stocker with the grenade plate gone but I only had a Barnett kit in my Iron head so I don't have anything modern to compare it to

ok then, well like cyclone said a lazy start is hard to do would be true, the full barnett setup grabs very hard and just feels much better all around when you shift it is just nice and crisp feeling, and the heavier clutch spring really is not that bad of a pull. I really ddo not know what else to say about it

Well, i've had a bit of experience with clutchs, just have the stock clutch in my M2. but what they mean by not being able to do a lazy start is, the Barnet with the heavy spring has no slip at all or almost no slip, so you let cluch out with low revs the motor would probably stall as no slip almost like direct drive, you have to give them more revs ride clutch a bit.
i don't like heavy clutchs. best clutch on a Buell i have seen was the AIM VPC set up that you can custom yourself, not sure if you can get them that way from AIM but a friend of mine has one on an S1 it has a featherweight cluch pull very light, not sure what diampram he uses but he can set up the variable pressure to slip more & hook up at higher revs or slip less hook up at lower revs. he shifts fast too with throtle wide open so seems to shift well. the thing i like is when you have some clutch slip it takes shock off your gearbox & rear belt drive. a heavy hard hitting clutch might feel good but lot more shock on gearbox and rear drive. thats if you ride hard. if you ride easy would not matter. the way i see it you put an extra plate in the clutch you have more clutch surface so it will be less prone to slip and you can still use stock spring. but what ever you are happy with is the best, everyone is different.

i agree with lakes here on the shcock when the clutches engages, i just thought i would put the barnett spring on so it was all new.
