Hey guys. I posted this in the Knowledge forum but not really getting any lookers or responses. so thought I'd try in here as well. Here's what I posted in the other thread:

Sorry if this is stupid but I'm new to Buell and HD motors. My new-to-me '96 S1 has a Forcewinder XR2 already installed. It's blowing oil all over my leg and the bike. so driving to work with work pants is a no-go. I want to install a catch-can but am a little confused about the XR2. It's supposed to already have the breather tube routed back into the intake...I assume that is the small aluminum tube going to the bottom of the XR2? So, my question is...do you remove that when you install a catch can or do you put a "T" in that line and keep it routed into the back of the XR2? If someone has pics of this setup using a XR2 and a catch can I would really appreciate it!

If you are PUKING OIL OUT the HEAD BREATHER HOSE/HOSE's you could be over filling your oil tank ???

CHECK YOUR ENGINE OIL Class 101, just PM me if you want a copy ...

yes, I did search and saw that. My main question was whether the XR2 needs to have that pipe going into it? After playing around tonight, I'm going to say it doesn't? I'll have to check and see about the oil level...the previous owner did just do an oil change he said. Trust me guys, I've been reading up on stuff all day everyday and my mind is going numb! That you though for the help.

I opted for the #5013 "XR" model for my S1W that has the standard CV40 carb; that is the Forcewinder without any holes. However, it does need the Dremeling out of the breathing chamber on the mounting face, and I believe the XR2 already has the right shape cutout (no need for a Dremel). If you are going with breather lines routed overboard or to a catch can, then there should be no holes or any openings into/out of the intake except for air going in via the filter.

Buellistic is right, that there may be other things to look at if you are getting oil like that. Overfilling of oil tank is the easy, probable cause. Also look into swapping XB rocker covers in for the originals, as they have a superior PCV venting out the top, so no need for the banko bolts and the breather lines out from the sides of the heads.
