In the process of rebuilding a 96 s1, I got in pieces. Anyone have some pics of how the shock reservoir mounts to the shock?? Also I have a hose above the transmission that does not have a home. Is this a vent?? If so where do I route it to??
Any & all help greatly appreciated

Does anyone know where I can find a diagram for the engine wiring?? My fsm does not show any of the sensors on the engine, I have an extra wire near the oil pressure switch that I do not know where it connects to.

What is the part number on your factory service manual?

I have a case of the various (there was a 1996, a 1996/97 and an update) manuals laying here . . I can check and see.

That's no good. You need the manual for THAT year. If it's a 1996, you need

This may help as well if you are doing a thorough restoration.

Mike does not come with the bike . . . but arrangements can be made.

: )

Yep. . . that's the famous BMW headlight that almost kept the S1 from existing.

Some folks will tell you the wheels never had slots . . . they are wrong.

That's what a perfectly stock 1996 S1 looks like. There is one place that some folks will tell you "aha . it has a recall done". Not true, that just tells me what time of the year it was built.

Another easy way to date the bike is the photo right below the battery. I can tell it came from the new frame maker.

Every bike tells a story.

This one is most unusual n

Court WOW !! I thought mine was clean... I now feel ashamed. In the pic showing the carb side of the engine, there is a wire running up as if to the carb, Where does this wire connect to?? I bet this is what I am missing.

There is a cable (Part No. 32400-94 (Sensor Assembly, with terminal pins) that runs from the plate that holds the sensor that is adjacent to the timing cup.

The cable runs to Part No. 72103-94 (Receptacle, Three-Pin, black)

Court, from that description I don't think that's it. Its just a single wire runs in the same wire loom as the oil pressure sender wire. I believe it is a beige colored wire.

"fork lock"

really? Looks like its on clutch side of bike, on my tuber the lock is on throttle side - the side that'd be easily reachable when the bike is parked.

And if this is the fork lock, does the little piece swivel out of the way or what?

R850r - You were right it was the neutral switch, but for some reason the wire was real short, making it not look right, thanks.
Hybrid - your right its on the clutch side so is mine, the little cover will swivel up so you can stick your key in.
