Got a 1999 X1
Rear shock blew last year on a 1200 mile trip.
Got a used one on eBay... a little better but still a little squishy.
I'm looking to get my original shock refurbished, what is the best place to do it? Cost?
I'm in ohio.

Thanks

Best I can tell, it's not worth it. They blow really easily and you tend to pay about what it would cost to buy a new one when you pay to get it rebuilt.

I only weight 135 pounds and I blew the stock shock. I'm a skinny little dude, chances are you weigh more than me.

Try to save up for the cheapest Works Performance shock. Even the cheapest one is way better than the stock one AND you can rebuild it yourself. Just need a place to get the nitrogen refilled.

I spent $350 for Race Tech to rebuild mine with their Gold Valve kit. It feels so much better and I am not a skinny dude(215Lbs). Dessert Fox does raise a good point in that due to the design, I may have to go through this exercise again in a few years although I hope not. If you can afford it, Get the Penske or Works.

Got mine rebuilt by Race Tech this winter for $140, new seal, bushing, oil, and nitrogen charge. Took the spring off to save on shipping. So far so good.

Someday, if I knew it could be done THAT cheaply, I probably would have paid for a rebuild : p

I had only ever heard of it being 350 or so. And all it needs to do is break one more time and you've paid for a works shock, you know?

DF, $350 was with the Gold valve kit and a new hose on the remote reservoir. The nice thing is that you tell them your inseam, weight and riding style and the shock comes set up or at least in my case, I did not feel the need to tinker with their settings
