Eshardball, I can't post a photo of the HID in the M2 but I will soon have an update. My S3T has a square headlight that should be better at dissipating the heat than the round headlight on the M2 so now I have plans to install a brighter 55 Watt, 8,000K HID in the S3T. I expect that it will be very-very bright. |

Dave, I would think that with less surface area the Square headlight in the S3 would be worse at dissipating heat. Although I have not compared the depth of them, my Train light on my S1 looks deeper than the small square one on my S3. I would think that having the lamp further from the lens would lessen the heat but that is all speculation on my part. Anyone with more experience, please chime in |

Re: Heat I just finished a Sunday morning 75 mile loop. The 35 Watt headlight did not get too warm so I am confident the the 55 Watt will be okay in the S3T. |

Heat will not be an issue. The 55w HID bulbs do run a few degrees hotter than the stock ones, but nothing major. |

Dave, I might have missed this but did you get the 3000 or higher? |

The 35 Watt is a 6,000K and the 55 Watt kit is 8,000 K. |

Thanks. For some reason their default option showed 3000 for 35W. I'm going to order one (6000K). |

Dave, please keep us(me) posted on how the installation goes on the S3T, please. I have the S3 fairing on my M2. I have thought about several different lighting options to increase and I like this option a lot. |

Mike, watsamatter? You don't like having a candle for a headlight? My S3 is as good as any bicycle headlight out there |

My 35w kit has arrived - I can't wait to get it installed!

So the install was straight forward, though it did take me a lot longer than some of you guys. My kit was missing the directions so I printed out the .pdf from the website. For some reason the 1st side I hooked up to the headlight failed to change the light from high to low. I changed to the other side and it worked, so... DO NOT CUT OFF THE EXTRA HEADLIGHT LEAD! At least not unit everything is working! I love the light- way more visibility at night and it does seem like I am much more visible to cages during the daylight. It could be a placebo effect, but it appears that more folks wait to pull out and more change lanes to let me by than before. |

What I found was that I did have greater visibility during the daytime. I also found that for some drivers my HIDs induced a "deer in the headlights" effect resulting in them staring right at me while they drifted into my lane. |

The picture didn't show up... Really? the permission level is "everybody". Does anybody besides me see the photo? FB - I'll watch for the "deer in the headlight" syndrome" thanks. |

I'll never forget it. My big galooty but riding on top of my Uly (not a small bike by the way) wearing a Hi-Viz Darien Roadcrafter jacket with my HIDs in broad daylight. I locked eyes with the driver. I KNOW he saw me. It was like a moth to the flame. He drifted right toward me. Luckily he jerked it back over onto his side of the road. Almost rolled it doing so. Crazy. That happened three other times. |

Scott, The photo is fine. I need to do this mod as my S3 headlight sucks. Do you have your front end strapped down? What levers are those. I have stock ones and want to replace them along with the headlight |

There is a front end strap, but it is not tightened in this picture. Those are recently added Pazzo shorty levers - I'm very happy with them. Beyond the bling, I have issues with some of my 50 y.o. finger joints and bringing the lever closer to the bar has been a relief! |

Ditto on the 50 yo fingers. Seems they don't work quite as well when ya keep breaking them. I have the Gold CRG levers on my S1, Thanks, American Sport Bike. Want the same in black for my S3 |

Looks very nice and thanks for the tips. Since I will have another knee surgery next week it looks like it could be a nice winter project. |

it looks like it could be a nice winter project You'd better have other things to do - on a M2 this would probably only take a couple of hours to do. Polishing your swingarm, or rebuilding your forks with new springs and a gold valve are good winter projects - adding HID is a nice way to kill an afternoon. good luck with your surgery! |

Thanks Scott. I have the S3 fairing on my M2. I know it will be a quick install just trying to make the down time seem brighter. |

I have decided this is impossible to install. How the bloody hell do you get the plug ins out of the headlight? They are too big to fit through the hole! |

Sorry Wilson - I don't understand the question. Be more specific or post a picture. The instructions were missing from my kit, but I downloaded the .pdf from their website - you do have the directions right? Edit - ok, thought about it and you have a headlight shell with a hole for the wires and the hole is too small for any of the connectors to fit through - right? You can either go to the parts store and get a weather-proof connector and splice it in or (I had to do this to the fuse box in the hid kit and also had to do it with my Rizoma turn signals) use a paperclip or very small screwdriver to rease the connector from the wire, install and then press the wire back into the connector. Without the whole kit in front of me I am not 100% sure that the 2nd suggestion is a possibility for you. (Message edited by scott_in_nh on September 29, 2010) |

I figured out the routing and how I'm going to go about plugging everything in. I just had to step away and rethink it. I know how to wire them, that's the easy part, as I have had them in my car going on two years now. I love the light output from HID's compared to halogen, so much easier to see IMHO. But, this is a part I am having an issue with : What did you guys do with this issue? |

I tossed that and put a grommet on the headlight shell. That does not seal the headlight shell so I thought it might help "vent" any heat away. |

Ok, those with the M2 headlight, does only the top half of your light, light up? I left the metal bracket on but I would have thought the top half of the light would have been covered, not the bottom (resulting in all light reflecting upwards). Anyways, this is the 35W Hi/Lo kit...Not fully warmed up:
