Howdy everyone,

I just recently bought a 2000 X1 and I'm having some problems. It looks like my fuel pressure is way too high (70psi) and causes my bike to misfire and buck under light cruising. Then about once a week the fuel pump just dies and leaves me stranded for an hour before it works again. No check engine light or codes. I think I need to replace my fuel pump and regulator. Has this happened to anyone else?

My bike has the race ECM, D&D full exhaust, intake. Does the race ecm up the fuel pressure?

Thanks everyone!
Greg

Pressure should be about 50-55 and not fall off after the key is off.Might be regulator issue, good thing is the pump is still available(Unlike the XB one). Just put one in an X-1 here. Had 22 psi pressure--ooops!

Fasttoy,

Good also be a air intake leak and over heating problem. The over heating can be the cause becuase the stock ECM fuelmap is not very good, and when that lean mixture is used for a long time the bike will shut off.

I got stranded again, but was close to my shop so I could at least get it back and diagnose with the aid of tools. I found the wiring from the Race ECM to the fuel pump was all good and figured to replace the pump at the least.

I found my pre filter sock completely disentegrated with debris in my tank. I replaced the pump and pre filter sock and currently looking for a new regulator and filter. : )

I do have a race ecm, so I don't think it should be running lean, but I do have a wideband I can install to check it out.

Thanks,
Greg
