I'm looking to get rid on my plastic front pulley cover and don't want to spend 300 bucks on a CNCed aluminum part (maybe in the future). I found this one on eBay.

Has anyone bought one of these? Is it cheesy or not? I found out that its 16 gauge stainless, and for 30 bucks. Is this too good to be true? I can't say that I'm in love with it, but it gets the job done.

Kind of neat looking, but why evan use one at all? Myself, and many others don't use them.

Dean:

I like the look of a bike without the guard, but I have to ask, do you ever fear your pant leg might get caught? Do you ever run into any problems without the guard?

Thanks

I've heard of people getting their pant leg pulled in. That makes me a little nervous. Plus wouldn't you have to worry about road debris getting in there?

Eric,
I have that same guard on mine and think it looks pretty good. Looks much better than the pic, fit like a glove.

I don't think that guard will keep much road debris out. I have never had an issue of my pants getting pulled in there, nor have I heard of anyone I ride with getting their pants pulled in, but I don't beleive any of us wear bell bottoms either. I did look at my S1 which is the one I have the cover off of, and think you would be hard pressed to get a pant leg in there. My S3 with the different footpeg location and the different frame looks like it may be a little more probable of getting a pant leg in there though. To each his own.
