In the process of my XB wheel conversion and was thinking....

How similar are the X1 and '03 XB forks?
Can I mix and match parts? They both take the same seals and what not. Can i use my X1 upper tubes and then use everything else from the XB forks? Anyone know, anyone done this?

By doing so, the upper forks will install perfect into my X1 triples, and then my XB brake and wheel will bolt on factory.

thanks

Is the fork leg spacing the same?

I am in the middle of the same thing and was thinking just like that. Might take them apart and try it.

I'm just planning on using '03/'04 forks in the stock S2 trees. I have an adapter on the stock forks now, but I've seen the XB forks in S2 triples once before.

i have the 04 forks but they are not an exact fit in the tuber trees. the top of the fork dampning control is quite a bit taller and it will hit my crossroads bars. gonna test fit next week.

I just own an X1 and an XB, that way no need to mix parts. :P

I didn't think of that because with an S2 it's not an issue. S2s have clipon bars.

The 03 forks are the same. To fit in the X1 triples that top part is going to stick up past the top triple an inch or so which will interfere with my Handlebars. I was planning on a 1" riser anyhow to convert to 1 1/8" bars but not sure if that will be enough. I got to looking at night and wondering if i could switch to a set of high rise clip on and install them on the very top of the forks above the upper triple.

Tech, I think all the constant talk we did over the last year started an epidemic of wheel swapping lol.

Thanks Tech. I should find out tomorrow if I'm getting another tuber though, and this one will go to my brother so I've got a riding partner : D.
