was checking out my muffler the other day, and the center housing has 2 broken rivets, bent, scratched and cracked.... i know they make a repacking kit for them, but would it be possible to just order that center housing also instead of buying a whole new muffler? |

By the center housing are you referring to the perforated baffle inside the can? Is this an SS2R slip-on model My SS2R has no rivets. Its got a set of small allen type screws which can be removed to take the packing and the baffle out from the back of the exhaust. |

The SS2R typically has rivets at the inlet end, and screws at the outlet end for rebuilding. Should be able to get just about any perforated baffle and put it in there, or some folks have even used chicken wire and made a tube out of it. Pack with steel wool instead of fiberglass, it'll last muuuch longer. |

You're better off getting a used one. I have seen them here for sale for about $100 or so in real good condition. |

My Vance and Hines label was coming off and had a few scratches to boot so I disassembled it (had to to re-stuff it anyway) and painted the can black and polished the ends. Turned out purty good if I do say so myself. I'll see if I can find a pic of the finished product. Nope, none available. |
