My shock on my X1 is leaking, there is a shock on ebay that visually appears correct(show short eye) but is listed as s2(t) and s3(t) shock.

Is this the correct shock for an X1?

There have been many threads on this lately, a quick search turned up the following. In short, yes it will if both are the same length.

I found that thread, and re-read it, but there was no definitive answer as to whether or not all the showa's were the same(damping, spring rate, etc.) beyond visually being the same.

George,

I'd say save up and get a Works or Penske. But that's just cuz I'm partial.

I knew I'd have my bike for a lonnnnng time so I went ahead and got a Penske 8300 series. I bought it because I figured out that it was a better option instead of buying several stockers over the years, I'd get one that I can rebuild when it's time!

Oh, and something about adjustable ride height, and fully adjustable and sprung for my weight instead of a 165lb rider helped in my decision...

Rumor has it they are the same. I can not confirm if they are identical valving and springing or not, but I can tell you that bought one a bit ago and run it on my X1 with no issues- it handles great. I won it for $70 (brand new!) and bought the 14.5" bracket for $10. Best $80 I ever spent!

Chances are that you have the longer shock on your bike. Measure eye-to-eye to be sure.

The Penske's have been a great solution for folks. I also think the supply of tuber shocks is about to the bottom of the pile. Someone asked recently about getting a recall unit and I'd forgotten that was nearly 10 years ago! Time flies!

I have some of them here in boxes that have never been opened but I'm not sure which ones.

While I would love to spring for a penske, it's not in the budget at the moment(you know, with buying that race header among other things ).

In the meantime, I need a shock that works(you know, one that's not leaking) so I'll pick up one of the showa's off of ebay.

I just bought 2 of them last week off of ebay brand new still in the package my dad just put one on my m2 with no issues and it was the exact same as the busted one. I asked the same question a while back because they all said s2 and s3.
