I need some help here, why the hell is the Cometic base gasket blocking the oil passages. It is doing it on both front and rear bases...

Don't mind the copper gasket...I was following instructions of FMJ. ; )

Wow...Cometic usually fit better than that.
Lacking any better fitting gaskets, I would carefully trim the excess out of the way....assuming the hole does not come too close to the outside edge.

I just did my base gaskets and my Cometics don't look anything like that ugly piece you've got there. Mine fitted perfectly.

Well it's ugly from the copper spray gasket and spotty because I took them on and off a buncg so my hands wer covered in it.

I tried copper gaskets once and found that they were more inclined to leak than the stock ones. Assuming that the place they leak at is at the oil return passge, you now have 30% less of that surface covered by gasket so even if you trimmed out the hole to allow better flow of oil, I think you'll have an automatic base gasket leak.

With due respect due FMJ, I'd toss the copper and use stockers. Or exchange the copper ones for a better fitting set.

That is a "paper" gasket that has been sprayed with Copper Coat. In any case that is a crappy gasket.

I didn't use any sealant and they sealed perfectly. That misalignment of the hole looks to be a worry though. I also wouldn't be using the stock ones. They leaked and were a nightmare to get off the barrels.

It's a spray on. I don't know why they don't line up.

I'm going to call Revolution on Monday and see if they can't fix this issue. I bought the kit from them brand new and I just went to install it and well, it's not installing..

a nightmare to get off the barrels.

I had that same problem. Took a complete 8 hours, and that was with a gasket remover product, too!

Those are just drain holes/passages. Last I heard, you have no worries. I don't like it either but that is apparently par for the course with those gaskets.

Those look nothing like the cometic gaskets I used. And the cometic kit specifically instructed to install the gaskets dry.

The top end kit I used had rubber coated metal gaskets for both the bases and heads.

Get that thing on the road already!

Brin I would not install paper / fiber gaskets on the bases, removing them later WILL SUCK!

I just put on the Stock base gaskets, just like the improved rocker box gasket coated steel, no mess no problems, that gasket looks to be poor quality
If you have not assembled it by the time you get this get a set of factory base gaskets.

BTW get extra wrist pin clips if going stock on the pistons / jugs.

little bastards act like birds.

Cometic's are the metal/rubber gaskets.

I have stopped assembly, and am probably going to go the route of stocker updated ones. I called Revolution, and they told me that it isn't a big deal, and I also gave my condolenscenes to them because of Brian's brother personally.

Andrew said that his did the same thing on his sporty with the same kit I'm installing.

Looks like I ruined a gasket for no reason..LOL
