According to my parts price list, there are numerous rear master cylinders. They are all starting with H0205 and then a letter. Maybe somebody with an X1 parts book will chime in. Or you can call a Buell dealer and ask them to look it up for you.

my 2002 X1 book shows:

41722-98Y MASTER CYLINDER, rear w/# 4, 6, 17, & 18 <-- verbatim from the book

I have no idea what the numbers listed are referring to. They correspond to other parts listed on the page but there's no reason to need all those parts along with a master cylinder.

the linkage coming out of the bottom of the master cylinder and attaching to the brake lever (4 & 6)

#'s 17 and 18 respectively, are caliper mounting bolts, and the bracket that slides inside the swingarm and the axle slides through.

Hope this was some help. Wish I could show you a picture but I think you'd still be confused. I know I am : )

btw, the 98Y in the part number makes me think that this part was used on at least one buell starting in 1998, so it should fit your '99 X1 even though my parts book is for 2002.

Phil,
Shoot me your email address. I have an illustrated parts book. I'll scan you a copy of the pic and parts numbers. I'll try to shoot them over to you in an email.

That means it includes all those parts, IE you can buy the MC with those parts listed OR in the parts book there is another option to get the MW with res and line as well...
