Ok guys i have no idea here, A fellow badwebber had problems with his bike and we used my fuel cell/parts and his bike still would not run. It finally got down to the stealership and they said it was the fuel pump and $500 later its running, My question is why would a good know part that was just ridden over to his house and used on his bike would not run the bike?? It works on my bike and is still working, This is very confusing?
No pressure test was done only a good part swapped over to see if it would help

Start relay? I had my relay go bad and it wouldn't start.

I think I see where your problem is. You're trying to use a common sense approach to something done at a dealership. You'll never work that one out. Did they just say $500 please and here's your bike? They should have at least given him a parts/price breakdown. $60 - $70 per hr. for labor, $X for shop rags and stuff used to work on it, $X for the part they used or new part. If it looks obvious that the tank wasn't tinkered with in any way I'd ask for a list of what was done. But that's just me.

Get the old fuel pump the dealer took off and try it.

Another dumb question about how long should the pump pressurize when first turned on.

3 seconds or so.

Mine sounds labored some times, or makes weird whining/whistling noises while priming, but I've never had problems starting the bike or keeping it running.

Well we tried the parts before the dealer had it and i can't see why the other pump from my bike would not work on his bike. This is too weird, And i don't trust the dealer. The reason is the other pump is making weird noise and now it won't start it worked when it went into storage and now nadda!

In my opinion the only logical explanation is that you did not install the "good" part correctly. May be the connections or something. I am guessing that the pump can be tested with relative ease, e.g., put 12-13 volts on it and see/hear if it is alive.
Am I way off here?

Uhm back up maybe i wasn't clear. The pump is an existing factory 2001 pump. We did not install anything. We simply used the fuel cell/tank off my bike and his bike would not start. Now i don't see how the dealer said it was a fuel pump when i just rode my bike there, but the dealer said it was the pump. UUhh i rode the bike 30 miles back to my house on my pump. But yet it would not run his bike. BS. Now the bike in question was running when it was stored. now?

Just curious. Did you hear the fuel pump running after you switched your tank onto the other bike?

Yes but no fuel spray just dribbling at the injectors. and we used my filter as well just to be sure.

Wow. I wonder about the fuel line from the filter to the injector rail. Maybe it delaminated and plugged up a bit.
