just as the title says i have a friend with a 99 1200c sporty and he was doing some carb work and apparently sent a piece thru the carb and f'd up the front cylinder so now he needs new parts i told him to get the thunderstorms heads and pistons. will these parts work without modification iirc they work am i correct? whats a fair price for these parts i found a set for 800 brand new with pistons. |

$800 is too much IMHO. They'll bolt right up. There are SE XB style heads on eBay as well that are much better heads for $650. Pistons new from Zannoti are $52/ea. |

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. If you use the New Screamin' Eagle heads or XB or '04-up XL1200 heads you'll need a new front mount I believe, but it can be had cheap from NRHS in steel IIRC. If the heads are made for EFI then you'll need the flange adapters to run the carb manifold, also cheap from NHRS ($15 IIRC). Some of the sponsors of this board can probably get them for you as well. |

Honestly I do not know. I know that if it did damage the lifter, I would check the cam too for abnormal wear on the lobe. |

Used Thunderstorm heads go on eBay for about $375 to $450. Add a valve job and pistons and you're probably at $800. (Although Firemanjim had some piston/cylinder sets for sale for cheap.) I should have bought new for what I'm into mine for. The front head-to-frame bracket needs to be enlarged but that's simple. The intake manifold issue is news to me but I'll find out tomorrow when I get mine back from the shop. |

the intake flanges are only an issue when using EFI XL heads. |
