Has anyone used Dunlop 616 tires?

They have a big deep tread pattern that looks like a race rain tire to me.

I wonder if they are good on wet roads at high speeds or if there is something more resistant to aquaplaning.

I really like the idea of a long wearing rain tire so if these work, they might be my next tires for the M2.

I think those are the tires that were original equipment on the Uly when it came out in '06. The Uly board will have lots of info on them.

The D616 was the OE tire on the 06 Uly, They do great in the rain, but are horrible at higher speeds, and cause a nasty head shake on my Uly over 80mph.

I can't get my head around the 80+ shake. How does a rear tire do that?

Its mostly from the front one and the XB steering geometry.

Yes, 616 is OEM on the 06 Uly. They're awesome in the rain and mud, but not so much on miles (I'm about to start throwing sparks off the belts at 5k).

On my S2, I run Michelin Pilot Road2s. LOVE EM. They're nice and neutral all the time, stick as well as I need 'em to in the rain, and seem to be holding up quite well mileage-wise (dual compound). They're a little pricey...but so far, definitely worth it in my book. I'm sticking with the 616 on my Uly, though, because of all the mudwork I do with it.

I've been running them on my M2 for a couple years. I ride a lot of dirt roads, they are good on gravel. I've had them up over a hundred once or twice with no problems. I don't ride aggressively so can't comment on road traction.

It sounds like the strengths of the 616 on wet pavement and on gravel roads might make them a good choice for my M2.

For the way I ride the M2, I don't care so much if the 616 tires aren't the best on dry and smooth roads as long as they are very good on wet and/or rough roads.

Looks like 616 Dunlops or Pirelli Scorpion Syncs are in my future.

Thanks everyone.
