Easy,

Is there any way to find out how many were built each model year?

I'm afraid I'm not very knowledgeable about the bikes themselves, just serving as a clerk for this. I'll start to keep more of an eye out, though.

From a file I got from somewhere:
Model / Production Years / Total
S3 / 1997 - 2001 / 2,663
S3T / 1997-1998, 2000-2002 / 1,750

Thanks Frank,
That's not an awful lot of bikes.

Well as far as collectable bikes it is way too much but it would be a shame to pack a a S3 in a corner of a garage hoping it would be a collectable one day. They are meant to be ridden as you all well know. There have been a few people that did Iron Butt rides on these bikes.

I was impressed at how many S3s I saw at homecoming. I am a S2 guy but even I can appreciate a well maintained classic tuber. Actually, I was looking at a S3T and it gave me ideas on how to fix my S2T bags.

I looked and I do not have production numbers by year. Sorry guys. If I find it in hardcopy I will be sure to post it.

The frustrating part is that I thought I saw that info and more in the Knowledge Vault at one time. Either it was moved or it's a figment of my imagination....

EasyRider, I just sent my information... that picture in my profile is from when I first got the bike... since then the paint on the tank has bubbled off and the front fairing ripped off after being loaded in a pickup backwards when I broke down in New York on my way to Mass a few years back. Anyway, if you need any more info lemme know!

I'll roll updates in this weekend. For some reason I've looked at that pic recently - must have been from another post that had me curious. If you're interested in a fairing, I've got one that I've been putting off listing on ebay (listed it here a couple times).

Thank you anyway EasyRider, in the process of turning the S3 into a streetfighter, already cut up the front fairing stay. You checked out my pic about a week ago when I said I haven't washed it in 5 years : )
