I just received a set of Crossroads bars I purchased from E-bay and they seem too narrow for my 98 S1W. They hit the tank way too soon. The number on them is N09701. Are they the wrong ones or did I install them wrong?

Sounds like the ones for the smaller tank. There are 2 different kinds for the tubers.

Guell is right. The 95-97 S1 had a much narrower 3 gallon gas tank.

yes like they said there is a couple tanks out there, the early m2 and s1 tank is narrow the s1w and the late m2 have a manta wide tank, i think that you can just try to find the wider base plate instead of the whole three piece kit.

That's my kind of luck. The auction I bought them on said they were for a 99 so I thought they would fit.

Cyclonemduece I think I will try that first before trying to sell these and buy the right ones.

Anyone have the wide base they want to sell or trade for this one.

...or you could swap to the small tank : ) It's only one bolt, and a fuel hose clamp....lol.

But I really like the look of the bigger tank. Does American Sport Bike sell just the base plate? I'll call them latter today and ask. I had the LSL bars on it but didn't like the position they put my hands in.

You can call CrossRoads and ask if they have just the center....(though, IIRC, they dont own the prod line anymore).

I DO know, that when they did, they would sell individual parts... after a crash or something like that...

SKNTPIG I have the LSL superbike bars that are blue. But I have to get the new base for the crossroads before I can get rid of them. If your interested let me know.

I could buy the narrow crossroads and allow you to buy the other ones from Paint instead of trading.

all Crossroads Buell products are now owned by American Sport bike so if you need something call Al at American Sport Bike.
