Today while was setting my primary chain, i rotated the rear wheel and heard what sounded like rocks inside the cast wheel. Upon further investigation I noticed that I could sometimes see them fall past the hole in the spoke but there was no way to reach them. Then I got the compressed air and created turbulence inside the spoke and one came flying out the hole in the other side. The others had to be brought up to the hole with compressed air and punched out with an old pushrod. When all was done there were four chunks of casting slag that weighed about two grams total. (look like moon rocks) Anyway, now there in no annoying rattle when I rotate the wheel. Has anyone else found these in the wheels? Or do your wheels have an unexplained rattle when rotated slowly? This one almost drove me mad until I found the source and got the little buggers out. Dave | ||

I had a set of PM wheels once with a similar problem, but it was because I had to drill out 3 drive pulley studs and retap the holes. | ||

I've had what looked like drill shavings come out of one of the holes. |
