CBS NEWS POLL: 76 percent of viewers approved of what they heard in Pres. Trump's #SOTU speech; 72 percent said they approved of Pres. Trump's ideas for immigration.

^: I'm not at all surprised by the overwhelming R & I approval numbers in CBS News' YouGov poll after last night's SOTU address, but I'm pleasantly surprised by how high the D percentage is, all things considered.
This number ought to be higher, of course, considering everything that our President has already accomplished for our nation (irregardless of one's political stripe; a rising tide lifts all boats...), but 30% is still pretty impressive, IMO.

HILARIOUS moment when @CNN had to report results of its own instant poll—59% had “very positive” reaction to speech; 17% “somewhat positive.” #winning @realDonaldTrump

I thought Trump laid out a very solid foundation of real accomplishments, that pretty much forced a positive reaction from all in attendance. In summary, MAGA! Oddly, but not surprisingly, when mentioning making America great, the reaction was far more partisan.
For weeks I've hear various pundits claim that most Americans are opposed to building the wall. This is now put to rest in my mind with the CBS poll finding 72% agreeing with Trumps ideas on immigration. This is what happens when the filter of the media is removed from the message.
Well done Mr. President... Well done!
The split in reaction when he said we will never become a socialist nation was also well played. It's time to just rename them the Democrat Socialist Party. Again... Well done!

He also did an excellent job calling out the Dems - "they are against a strong border barrier, while they themselves live behind walls and armed guards, leaving the normal American citizen to fend for themselves". (not an exact quote, but pretty damned close IIRC).
Hopefully the overall message of "don't do things for your party, but do things for AMERICA" will resonate with viewers. I know better than to think it'll resonate with the critters in Congress...but perhaps viewers (read: VOTERS) will remember it, think about it, process what it means...and vote accordingly next election cycle.

Biggest disappointment of the Trump's SOTU speech? The camera didn't pan to OAC when Trump declared we'd never become a socialist nation. I'd love to have seen what Cortez's face looks like when her butt is puckered.

Well the speech was good but I could not listen to the rebuttal.
I took one for the team and listened to the rebuttal; I posted up the transcript last night:

I can't imagine that Dr. Tyson appreciates this comment the least little bit.
And now, in the "who's gonna blow up next?" department, we have THIS:
quote:
Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring reveals that he also wore blackface during college, threatening a constitutional crisis
Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring said on Wednesday that he dressed in blackface during college, deepening the multi-layered scandal enveloping the state's leadership this week.
Herring, a Democrat, added that "the shame of that moment has haunted me for decades" and argued that his past conduct is "in no way reflective of the man I have become in the nearly 40 years since."
Herring called on Gov. Northam to resign on Saturday after the racist photo emerged, but it's unclear whether he'll hold himself to the same standard.

#metoo flat-out REQUIRES that the Dems believe Tyson.
She's a victim.
She's female.
Therefore, she must be believed without question nor research.
Just ask Kavanaugh.
Now...I'm not saying we need to blindly follow something like this, nor should we convict the Lt. Gov. in the court of public opinion - that's the Dems job - but come ON. This has a ring of truth to it, because...this is the Dem playbook. The GOP doesn't do stuff like this. And the Dems certainly wouldn't do it to one of their own. This...the blackface...the OTHER blackface...nobody would dream of concocting this for the simple reason that it is SO unbelievable. It HAS to be true...nobody can make this shit up.

Why is it unbelievable that Klan Party politicians have examples of racist humor in their pasts? A bunch of Republicans, too, were in fraternity organizations that may have had racist theater comedy skits.
I was long a fan of Richard Pryor, and many other comics who used racist humor, and laughed at racist jokes, some, but not all, I'm ashamed of now. I still have a sense of humor. ( unlike most leftists )
My favorite line in any movie might be from Blazing Saddles.... "......But not the Irish!" It competes with the line. "It's true! It's true!" From the same film. ... Or ......
So many great lines that now trigger self delusional tools that don't understand Huckleberry Finn is the greatest anti racist novel of all time.

Can't count Pryor though - he IS black. Minorities get a pass (on racism...and apparently on sexual assault...and don't get me started on illegal immigration...).

Shoot first, don't miss.
These people are INVADING this country. A guest on Hannity tonight nailed it - sorry, but I forget who it was - when he said (re: the caravans) "people seeking asylum don't burn our flag; they don't march en masse under another nations' flag; they don't storm our border and demand admittance; they don't claim a constitutional right to access because there IS no constitutional right for citizens of another country. They politely knock on the door, ask permission to come in, and wait their turn."
These caravans ARE AN INVASION FORCE. Period, end of sentence. One, two, a family...those are "innocent civilians". Groups of 1,000 or more? That is an invasion force, and deserves to be dealt with as such.
Shoot first. Don't miss.
The first couple lines will fall, the ones behind them will get the point...and southbound buses will be full as they retreat.
And don't try and tell me these people don't know what they're doing. They're fully aware, and they're flaunting it.
Coyotes are preying on innocent private citizens. It's the ultimate soft-target, they know these people won't fight back so they walk all over them. If it were me...I'd TRAIN. Get some good optics, get a good long gun, and go to sniper school.

My family has lived in Virginia since the 1600s. VA would never elect people like Northam, Fairfax, Herring, Warner or Kaine without the votes of federal gov employees in NOVA. They are all an embarrassment to VA & the Founders never intended the Dist of Columbia to sprawl out into VA!

...or Maryland...no criminal proceedings just yet, but we're saddled with just as many stupid liberal bullshit policies (and nearly Chicago-like crime statistics) as a result.
Out here in "the sticks": helicopters overhead, in a federal no-fly zone (proximity to Camp David). Searchlights on. Me, my neighbor Kevin and his wife Kelly, standing in our floodlit front yards, talking. Me and Kevin openly wearing sidearms; Kelly leaning on a 12ga. Sheriff rolls up, pulls into the driveway. "y'all seen anyone you don't know?"..."no sir"..."will you call us if you do?"..."absolutely! um...before? or after?"...<chuckles>"y'all have a good night!".
Now, picture the same scene in Baltimore. 3 people standing around the yard wearing firearms/leaning on a shotgun and a sheriff/LEO rolls up.
How do you think THAT would go, in the city?
But...THAT is where our laws are decided, even though we live in decidedly different worlds.
Up here in the mountains of southwest Virginia, you're kinda looked at funny if you're NOT packing heat.
Remind me sometime to tell you the story of Denise surviving an attempted abduction several years ago while walking across the Parkway to get our mail - the .38 she was packing on her hip very likely saved her life...
