Just getting to know my new to me '02 X1. 2400 mi, White Bros E Series w/12 discs and K&N vel stk race AC are the only engine mods. The bike seemed to be just a little cold blooded at first since I was reluctant to pull the trigger on this thing until I had familiarized myself with it. That and I'd yet to bring it to full oper temp until it was legal. Put it on the road last Fri and got to know it enough to lean on it a bit. Ambient temps here in the mid seventies to low eighties and high humidity. Been going out after supper in the cooler evening air. Once warmed up for ninety sec the idle smooths out to an acceptable gait and the engine seems content enough other than the throttle response for an FI bike is substantially worse than my prev carbed TC 95. Wish it ran like that one does! It feels like the throttle is actuated by a rubber band. It's there but delayed. Not really a bog, more like just enough fuel to let you know it's trying to respond. Once warm and the throttle is more aggressively rolled on it exhibits a flat spot of sorts about the time it's starting to get on the cams. Around three to four grand. Not quite stuttering nor even a miss. Just seems to be leaning out about the time it aughtta be waking up. My question is: Will installation of the race ECM and TPS reset most likely cure its ills? Will it alter the F/A ratio as well as the timing curve? Thanks... Edit: The bike runs fairly good considering what most would deem acceptable. I just know it has the potential to be better with nothing more than a little tweeking. (Message edited by NOYACANT on June 26, 2007) |

After reading some here and looking at the alternatives I think I may just put the orig AC back in it and see if that cures its ills. If the flat spot goes away I'll be happy with it. It's fast enough as it is to suit me. I just want it to behave like it should. |

The race ECM would be the ticket. |

See my post on the X1 stumbling. Both the stock and race ECU run too lean at the bottom end. Do my trick and you'll be happy. I tried it with both the stock and race ECU. |
