Hi All, I picked up an 01 dash (with tach) that I plan to mount on my 00 M2. The part I bought included a speedometer. How tough is it to remove the speedometer from the dash? I see in the KV others had problems with the rubber grommet - any other feedback? Besides removing wires from the speedo one at a time - any other gotcha's I should know about? Thanks! | ||

Dog -- nope issues at all -- a lil wigling (of the speedo, er, instrument) will allow easy removal | ||

Quick question - what tool is used to remove the ignition nut? Is that a special tool? I don't want to muck it up. | ||

Quick update: I figured out that a needle nose would work just fine to remove the ignition nut. I got the new dash (with tach) installed and I love it. I live in Seattle so last GOOD day to ride was last Friday. Doing a "bump" wheelie was SO much easier with the tach. Thanks to all who responded. I indeed needed the instructions. I have about 300 miles on the new dash/tach. I proclaim it working (unless/untill it chooses not to).  | ||

i've enjoyed the addition of the tach for a couple years now, it's funny how they perfected the m2 then stopped producing them! | ||

Tripp - no joke! I have in my garage the following: 2002 GSXR 750 2001 HD Ultra 2003 Blast 2004 XB12R 2000 M2 I tend to jump on the M2 more than any of the other bikes. Admittedly, I have enjoyed bringing it back from the dead (bought it as a basket case) but I simply love the bike. It does pretty much everything I want a bike to do pretty well. That being said - I will continue to tinker with it some - adding more lights (really hate the light output), more power (have to do 2nd gear wheelies), and who knows what else. I have had more fun with this bike than the others in my garage. Note to others that pickup basket cases as project bikes: I have this weird rule that simply put says if I bleed on it, I can't sell it. Hmmmm.... since I am pretty much a klutz by nature, I probably will never be able to part with a project bike.  | ||

The M2 is like a disease you never really recover from if you own one and then set it free. It's like the girl you didn't marry, the good job you didn't take... Maybe even like that bass you lost that day because you thought you could lip it and the landing net was not worth bothering with... You just never get over it... Jack |
