can standard forks be lowered? if so how? I may be able to buy some used forks from an 06 xb12r and I would like to put them on my 03 xb9sl. obviously I will need the entire triple but how do I make them match height? or would I be better off buying his rear spring and shock and just making my bike taller? | ||

I would not recommend raising them in the trees. A professional suspension shop would probably be able to install shorter springs and revalve the forks accordingly. I know not if the short springs of the 41mm forks would work in a 43mm fork. That would be a good question for the fork pros. If that were possible though, they'd just need revalving. My gut tells me that they'd need new springs and revalve to get the right height and function. (Message edited by metalstorm on September 05, 2009) | ||

I agree. What is wrong with the original forks? If you raise the forks, then the front tire may impact the chassis under maximum compression. There is a reason why the SL forks have about an inch less travel. | ||
