I have a 2003 Buell blast. I'm putting the second hose/gasket to the manifold on now. For some reason it keeps breaking. This last one only lasted 5 miles. Someone help!! |

Jamie You will probably get a faster response if you post in the Blast knowledge vault. Has the air box been removed? Sounds like you don't have proper support for the carb. Just a swag. Joe |

Jasmine5276, Are you talking about the small rubber hose that connects the carb to the manifold? They break all the time, particulary if you're not running with a stock carb. Sportmark's wife replaced her's with a piece of hydrolic hose. She has extra hose left and she will make you one cheap: http://www.turbotime.us/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=1 EB0000-1130519024 |

Sounds like your carburetor may not be securely supported. It needs to be supported by it's own steel bracket, not just hang from the rubber boot. |

Blake, If equipped with the Blast Pro Series intake, then it is not supported with any bracket. Many Blasters with the Pro Series intake have had the same issue with the boot tearing, and have created their own support devices, or, as noted above are using sturdier hose to replace the suspect part. |

That doesn't sound right to me. The carburetor must be supported by a bracket, not just the intake boot and I have a difficult time imagining why the bracket would need to be removed. But I'm not familiar with the Pro-Series intake for the Blast, so I could be off base. Do you have a photo? |

The Blast doesn't have a separate support bracket. The carb is supported by the airbox - which bolts to the motor in a few spots. The Pro Series intake comes with no support bracket. Loli ran a PS intake unsupported for thousands of miles with no problems. The carb boot eventually failed after around 15,000 miles of unsupported running. I think a lotta guys have problems with this when their legs squeeze the unsupported PS intake. -Saro |

Thanks for the clarification Saro. Sounds like we need a bracket to fit the airbox mountings or a reinforced carb boot. |

EZ must've missed this thread -- EZ??? Big spring will solve this issue and I guess the upgraded boot does too. There's some pictures on here (I don't have the time to look) of using a spring to keep positive tension on the boot from the other side of the bike and thus eliminating/minimizing the 'floppage.' |

Basically there's nothing you can do. I wrote a letter to Harley about my two broken couplings and they basically said "Tough S***" if you know what I mean. I simply have some wire holding my carb up. The solution is NOT to buy another coupling. Unless you think you'll get a magical one that won't break. Harley told me to get a bracket made. Gee thanks. |
