Ustorque,

I ran 5 times and could have run 6 but I missed one while I was visiting with my girlfiriend.

No, didn't strap the front end and didn't do any burn outs. Had plenty of traction, and besides, with that short wheel base, you can't launch hard enough to have to worry about traction! I throttled up to about 4500 rpm and slipped the clutch to get off the line. Of course, I was as far up on the tank as possible. Still experimenting, but over all, it wasn't too difficult. Once I get the launches sorted out, I should be able to get into the 11s. I've got a Jardine, race ECU, and the race air filter. The bike ran pretty well actually. Plenty of pull through out the power band.

Twisties are great, and what I enjoy about sport bikes, but a night at the drags is extremely fun too! Heck, I may start looking for a drag bike!

Scott, The 21st sounds good! Ustorque, how 'bout you?

I was thinking about the PDA last night Eric. I'll try to come up with it this week/weekend.
Think about coming to the strip on the 21st!

Friday's are tough for me. The wife bartend's that night and it is very good $$$ so it makes it tough to justify.

Let me see what the mother in law (meme're) is up to. I may be able to work it out. They may be into a sleep over or something..

Cool weather is comming back, May get a good pass or two in....

Go the the NED website and check the calendar - there are a couple of "Streetfighter" races on Saturday left.
It only costs $8 more and is a real bracket race. Maybe not ideal for your 1st time at the track, but no big deal either. if you go out early you can continue to "test and tune" (and you get some qualifying passes beforehand too).

Hey Dan, my brother has an extra front end strap you can use tomorrow if you like. All you need to bring is a piece of allthread and nuts to put it on.
My brother is bringing his ducati M900 and he was running low 12's last night, so you are going to want to put it on unless you don't mind losing ;)
(and it will help you into the 11's)

I would think 3/8ths. mine is bolted on with the same bolt that holds the caliper to the fork leg. It might even be 1/4...

This Friday is a challenge by a Victory club to all V-twins. Do you think your brother would want to get in on this? I'll probably be going.

hey guys when drag racing what is the best way to control a wheelie? using the rear brake or letting of the gas? trying to get everything in my head for friday nite and this is something I do not know, so any help would be appreciated. Mike

the best way to control a wheelie is to roll off the throttle or grab the clutch if you have too. If you are good enough to already have your foot on the peg and be able to apply the rear brake - go for it!
Remember to ease out the clutch and roll on the throttle - they are rheostats not on/off switches!
You are not going to have a problem...

Man, are you going this Friday or next? I don't think Scott can make it this Friday and I know I can't. I will be at the next one though.

I just ride the clutch through the 60' mark. I still launch some wheelies once in a while, but use the throttle like a rheostat to keep it on the ground. I don't touch either of the brakes!

I get my butt kicked most of the time, but it is all good fun. It's not easy to launch a bike with lots of torque and a 53" wheel base.

Go ahead and race Mike, my brother will be there, his name is Chris - white chevy truck, red ducati monster.
Looks like I need an ignition switch now so I definitely won't be there, but I will try to make it next Friday.

Hey guys, I had to borrow money to make it to NED friday night, so I hope to see some of you guys there with me, it is v twin or victory against harley night to see who's better and can not pass up the chance of beating? a victory, I will probably go the following week to if everything goes good. I went for a ride sunday and found this mountain road in Vermont, it is called equinox mountain, 120 miles from peabody Mass, 6 dollars to go up, not many cars or bikes there, really nice views, paved roads, no dirt. I looked up buell clubs in New England and your club is not posted, one in Mass, Conn, Main, and New York, but could not find yours in New Hampshire, are you guys listed or new and not on the club list? let me know. did not do so good, I did the same time inthe eighth as my 97 lightning thought I was going to do allot better, kindof dissapointed with the results, next time I will have a shift light, that could effect my time, did not enjoy myself, now I do not know what to do besides taken turns fast, got home and went into a parking lot and did some nice turns from one way to another and liked that, going from a right turn to a left turn and so on leaning the bike far enouph over wich I slowley getting the confidence to do, but now the cold is comming and the tires wont stick as good so I have to be carefull. Better luck next time. Mike

Wouldn't let that discourage you. It's much more fun to have other Buell riders to race against for fun. I ran low 11s on my R6, but can barely run mid 12s on my XB. Does that pi$$ me off? Heck no, I have a blast just trying to better my time and enjoy the experience. Scott beats the pants off me on his S3 every time, but I still have a blast! Twisties are extremely fun, but drag racing is just another way to have fun on a motor cycle. One of the many ways to experience our hobby. Parking lot? Best way to improve turns is to go to a road with many turns and good pavement. Tires will heat up regardless of outside temps. Anything above 60 degrees, is comfortable to me. I take it easy for about 15 minutes until the tires build up heat, then lean 'er over. I constantly practice body positioning and make sure I look where I want to go. Biggest problem I usually see in riders is that they tend to look at the ground in front of them. Look where you want to go, and you will go there. Drag racing on the other hand is a blast when you have other riding buddies to joke with and learn from. Hope to see you out there again.

you are proubly right it seemed the allot of bikes had nitress oxide on there bikes, I just got done reading how to ride fast in a turn and need to do this techniqu, it is about seeing the were the corners of the turn meet and weather they are coming towards you or away from you, hard to explain, and do not realy know what they are talking about intill I try it and just read it yesterday, if you guys go I will also go, but would like to have a shift light. Mike
