Roadrunr,I can't commit to anything as I'm working on opening a bar so there's no telling what I'll be up to by then.Provided I'm not busy, I'm there! It's a nice ride to Kerrville from here if I take the Buell route. Thanks for the invite. If I do make it,I can show y'all some fun roads out there.Maybe by then Lance (Needforspeed2) will be back in the saddle.Talked to him the other day,he is out of the hospital and doing great.Tell me more about that ride in March,I might try and make that one if things work out. SIGNING OFF! seems there are some people here that I am sure have forgotten more about buells than I will ever know. I never claimed to know everything but I have seen & heard about a few fixes for some of the buell bugs out there. I get slapped down enough in the real world. Don't need it in the cyber world also. I'll just put my $.02 back in my pocket and pull the info I need from the shadows, and offer any I have the same way. Been less than a year since I found this site , lotta good info but it's time to go! |

Count me in. I just had my Buell a week or so before last fall's Thrills in the Hills, so I was taking it easy (learning the bike and breaking in) so I didn't go. But now I'm ready. |

Roadrunr>>> sounds like a plan to me I'm going to be kicking this thing off around the first of this next month. We are going to have a big open house thing here at the dealership for all buell riders. It should be alot of fun, I could really use the support. If we have a good crowd it will help my cause alot! I am very passionate about these bikes and i want to spark as much interest as i can. Good to here that there's more buellers around town than i thought. I'll keep you posted. Holler at me if ya'll ride sometime soon. I haven't been out in awhile. Thanks again Ross |

Anyone know a good ride that would start from the stafford area and run to a good restaurant ????? |

Arch: From Stafford take Old 90 west to the Grand Parkway (99) 99 north to 1093 1093 west to Simonton, then north on FM 1489 through Brookshire (this section actually has some curves!) Get on FM 359 north out of Brookshire to Pattison, then take 1458 to San Felipe. 1458 is fresh blacktop and has lots of curves, but watch for the law! At San Felipe, go west on I-10 about 3 miles, then take 36 north to Bellville. In Bellville, Newman's is a popular bike stop, great baked goods and decent breakfast and lunch plates. From Stafford to Bellville ought to take you about an hour. For a longer loop, get off 36 on the north side of Sealy and take FM 1094 through Cat Spring to New Ulm. Go south on 109 to Frelsburg, then take FM 1291 through Lone Oak to Fayetteville. Orsak's on the old town square at Fayetteville is a good ol' country cafe, opens for breakfast 7 days at 8:00. Stafford to Fayetteville is about 2 hours. From Fayetteville, go north on FM 1291 through Rosnov (don't blink) and cut north on 237 to Round Top. That ought to take you another 20 minutes or so. In Round Top, you have Royer's on the old town square. Kinda high $ for the neighborhood, but great funky atmosphere and really outstanding food. Just don't get on Bud Royer's bad side or you'll wait a looonng time for a table! There, that oughta hold you for a weekend or three! Aren't you glad you asked? Just be glad you didn't ask for Road Thing's notorious Texas Ice House Tour (known to be harmful to your liver and your driver's license!) r-t |

Well, Ross (archer)'s e-mail won't take my call. Since I typed all this up, I'm gonna post it here so the effort's not wasted! Ross: Rather than plot a route, I'm gonna give you a list of my favorite "bike-friendly" ice houses and similar establishments and their approximate locations. You can figure the route from there. 1) Alabama Ice House on W. Alabama in Houston (between Shepherd and Hazard, S side of the street). Been in business 75 years, they just don't get any more authentic than this. Thursday night is unofficial "bike nite". 2) Bubba's Buffalo Burger joint on Westpark just outside Loop 610. Short on ambiance, but decent burgers and cold longnecks. 3) Hogg Wild and the Grill at Easyriders on 1093 (westheimer rd) west of Hwy 6. Both kinda new, and lots of what I call "phony attitude", but they're both popular biker joints. 4) Gilbert's New County Line on 1093 just east of 99. Probably my favorite. LOTS of bikers, a genuine roadhouse, free hotdogs on Sundays, lots of live music and benefit events. If you go to just one of these joints, make this the one. 5) Bryant's on the south feeder road of I-10 just west of FM 1463. It's actually about 1/4 mile south of the feeder, but there's a sign. Another Authentic Texas Ice House. Site of lots of swap meets, biker benefits, etc. Not too many accountants in leather here... 6) Moore's Double Horn Grill on 1093 in Fulshear. Actually more of a restaurant than ice house, but Everett Moore, the owner, rides a Road King and is very supportive of the bike scene. This is also the home of the "ultimate Texas burger", IMHO. Did you know that grease counteracts alcohol? Every good Aggie should know that... 7) Dozier's BBQ, also in Fulshear but around the corner on FM 359. This is a grocery store/BBQ stand/old time meat market (jerky a specialty) that sees a lot of bike trade and sells single beer out of their cooler, but the emphasis is on BBQ, not beer. 8) Repka's on Buller road between 529 and 1458. This is a challenge to find, but there is a sign on 529. It's a country grocery/restaurant. They specialize in seafood(!) and it's down-home and good. Definitely off the beaten path, but worth looking for. 9)There's a grocery/ beer joint on 159 just out of Raccoon Bend that's a lot like Repka's. I can't remember the name, but it's worth checking out. 10) See my badweb post for reviews of Orsak's in Fayetteville, Royer's in Round Top and Newman's in Bellville. None of these is, strictly speaking, an "ice house", but Orsak's and Royer's do serve beer; the emphasis is on food, though. 11) I've seen an ice house on old 90 at Murphy Rd in Stafford ( or maybe it's Mo City). I haven't personally checked it out, but it looks promising. That's your neck of the woods, why don't you give it a try and report back? r-t |

ok guys, i'm kinda bummed. The Firebolt might not be here for the official launch. I can't get any one in management to find out a ship date. Anyways the point of this is that I am formally inviting everyone within the Houston area to come to the shop on April 27, for the official release of the bike. We are going to do it up right. Probably going to be catered and all that good junk. Can't promise beer but it's not out of character for this dealer. If you'd like give me your address and i will mail you some stuff on it. Don't forget about The Bike giveaway!!! Thanks guys Ross |

The KCMOB and SLAB are invading Arkansas this coming weekend (Sept 19, 20, and 21st). Anyone interested in joining us is more than welcome. I know it is short notice, but the more the merrier! We are going to set up base at the Iron Horse Stables near Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The KCMOB is camping there for the weekend. Here is the info: Iron Horse Stables 4033 Hwy 62W Berryville, AR 72616 1-479-253-0440 www.ironhorsestables.com The Members of SLAB will be getting rooms at: Wagner Inn Hwy 62, East 3064 E. Van Buren Eureka Springs, AR 72632 1.800.235.7639? The plan is: Arrive in the Eureka Springs area sometime around 5 or 6. (Heather and I should be arriving mid afternoon, if anyone is interested in arriving earlier) Ride a bit and find a nice place to eat. Saturday we are planning on riding all day. This should included Push mountain Rd and several others that our tour guides Shazam, Frank, and Racerboy have put together. Sunday Ride, get lunch, and head home. I know its short notice, but if anyone is interested in joining us please email myself or Shazam. We?ll get you our home and cell numbers to help with any accomodations that we can. Keith

Get your January 2006 calendars out... I just got off the phone with Dave Stueve (Daves) and he confirmed the HD dealer's meeting will be at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine again this year. SOOOO... Here's the deal - Saturday, January 21 - Dave's bike arrives in DFW. Sunday, January 22 - ALL interested Buellers go for a ride toward Glen Rose (Dave want's BBQ again...but I'm betting he won't eat fried okra). Monday, January 23 - Blake is planning a dinner, and Dave will try to "spirit" Erik away from the HD muckity-mucks to join us again. This gives us enough time to get a few more riders involved (hopefully it won't be as cold), and more folks can plan on meeting for dinner, too. (Court, can you make it this time?) Watch the DFW Metroplex Buellers board for updates! (I'm posting in the Houston and Hill Country boards, too.) (Message edited by rpmchris on August 30, 2005) |

Since there is going to an event at Oak Hill Raceway on September 9/9-9/11 that many Buellers are attending, I’ve decided not to encourage the Buell participation at the 9/12 Ducati Trackday at the Motorsport Ranch in Cresson. The next Ducati Trackday will be on Monday, October 10th at the Motorsport Ranch, which is also Columbus Day and should be much cooler. So mark your calendars. I’ll be in touch. |

Heck, if you can get your Buell out on the track at Cresson, that sure beats spectating and a parade lap at OHR. |

The next Ducati Track Day is October 10th, Columbus Day at The Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, TX. $150.00 includes lunch, drinks and water. Very relaxed, friendly with small groups. Last May there were 14 beginners, 18 intermediate 9 advanced riders. They have Ducatis, Aprillas, Triumphs and even BMWs show up. IMO they are not for race preparation, but you can get a lot of personal attention if you want it. Who’s in? Let’s make a big Buell showing. http://www.advancedmotorsports.com/trackdays/trackdays.aspx http://www.motorsportranch.com/ |
